Thursday 29th
July 2010
With a career that has already spanned two decades,
The Charlatans - Martin Blunt (bass), Jon Brookes
(drums), Tim Burgess (vocals), Mark Collins (guitar)
and Tony Rogers (keyboards) - release their new
album ‘Who We Touch’ on September
6th 2010 through Cooking Vinyl. A 2 CD limited
edition package, including exclusive early versions
of tracks and additional tracks that never made
it onto the album will also be available.
Their eleventh studio album, ‘Who We Touch’
was produced by Youth (Paul McCartney, Primal
Scream and The Verve) and was recorded at Britannia
Row in London, on the same desk that saw the creation
of New Order’s ‘Blue Monday’.
Featuring eleven tracks, the album must surely
rank as their boldest to date, radically broadening
their aesthetic remit. It is, says Burgess, “a
soulful voyage”, a journey through moods
uplifting and profound, dark and delirious and
ultimately concluding in blissful optimism. Its
sound is inspired by many heroes, yet always sounds
like no-one other than The Charlatans themselves.
Album opener, ‘Love Is Ending’ is
the first single to be taken from the album and
is available on August 2nd on limited edition
7” vinyl. The Horrors have also done a remix
of the track which will be exclusively available
through itunes.
The video to ‘Love is Ending’ was
directed by The Jesus & Mary Chain’s
Douglas Hart, who wanted something very simple
yet visually striking to compliment the energy
of the track. The ballet dancer/choreographer
Aisling Cook was selected due to her influences,
style and understanding of Michael Clarke’s
work, who is famous for his unique and pioneering
style of contemporary ballet with a 'punk' edge
whilst maintaining the fluidity and grace of classical
ballet.
Further into the album ‘Oh!’ is a
beautiful song of reconciliation, as complex as
its shifting time signatures. ‘You Can Swim’,
an exquisite ooze of ambience, reminiscent of
‘Another Green World’-era Eno, with
whose creative ideas the album began. Lurking
at the end of the album is hidden track ‘I
Sing The Body Eclectic’ featuring Crass’s
Penny Rimbauld on vocals. Gee Vaucher who did
the iconic artwork for all of Crass’s releases,
also provides ‘Who We Touch’ with
it’s eerie collaged cover image.

Badly
Drawn Boy Tour Dates.
Thursday 29th
July 2010
Badly Drawn Boy, aka Damon Gough, has announced
details of a UK tour in October, his first in
three years. The dates coincide with a new Badly
Drawn Boy single and album slated for release
in September and October respectively.
Penning the soundtrack to last year’s Caroline
Aherne film The Fattest Man in Britain sparked
a period of unprecedented creativity for Gough,
resulting in a wealth of terrific new songs. Gough
decided the best way to capture this surge, and
give the songs the exposure they deserved was
to release a trilogy of albums. The trilogy is
called ‘It’s What I’m Thinking’
and‘Part 1 – Photographing Snowflakes’
is released October 4th.

The
Sword Announce November/December Tour.
Tursday 29th
July 2010
The Sword’s legacy in the metal world has
been rapidly growing since they formed in 2003.
Their recent stints opening for legends such as
Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, and Motorhead has helped
garner them praise from fans both young and old.
Now on the heels of the release of “Tres
Brujas,” the first single from their forthcoming
new album, The Sword have set their sights on
their next move – a headlining world tour
in support of Warp Riders (August 23rd; Kemado
Records).
The band has amped up their sound on what is
truly a behemoth of a new album. Produced by Matt
Bayles (Pearl Jam, Mastodon, Isis), The Sword
stretched themselves with the new material to
touch on other forms of heavy rock in addition
to the pure metal that they’re known for.
Warp Riders is also the band’s first concept
album, and consists of an epic sci-fi narrative
loaded with dazzling imagery. Stay tuned for a
video trilogy that will shine more light on the
storyline.

The
Like Tour Dates.
Tuesday 27th
July 2010
Finding an exquisite balance between the 60’s
girl group and British Invasion sounds they adore,
and a lyrical point of view that can only be described
as impossibly modern, LA based quartet The Like
have come into their own.
The Like returned to British shores back in May
when they released He’s Not A Boy; the fantastically
well received first single from their new album
Release Me. The next single Wishing He Was Dead
is released on 23rd August, a biting riposte to
a cheating lover who might just regret his follies.
Z Berg explains, “Wishing He Was Dead is
a song for every girl who's been conned, cheated,
wounded, and bamboozled. After all, what girl
hasn't? It's just a fun little ditty about wishing
ill on the one who wronged you.”
With wry lines like “If I could snap that
neck, that broken record trainwreck, I might feel
okay.... ‘Cause I just can’t forgive
and forget, When I’m through with him, He
will be wishing he was dead”, this sharp
stompathon rings out like a rumble between Nancy
Sinatra and Girls Aloud, if they were to actually
ask their men to deliver on ‘The Promise’.
Produced by Mark Ronson (Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen,
Robbie Williams) with additional production by
Thomas Brenneck and Homer Steinweiss (of The Dap
Kings), and Alex Greenwald (Phantom Planet), Release
Me crackles and pops with girlgroup sass.
At the band’s core is the partnership between
founding members Z Berg (lead vocals, guitar and
main songwriting duties) and Tennessee Thomas
(drums) who formed the all-girl band when they
were 15. While Z and Tennessee are understandably
thrilled with Release Me, they’re also ecstatic
about the two newest members of the band, Laena
Geronimo (bass) and Annie Monroe (organ). “We
never intended to be a girl band,” says
Tennessee. “But we became rather pleased
about it eventually,” she says with a laugh.
We were first introduced to The Like in 2006 when
they signed to Geffen Records and released their
debut album Are You Thinking What I’m Thinking
to critical acclaim, and toured worldwide, playing
Coachella, the Wireless Festival, and opening
for bands such as Muse and Kings of Leon. The
long awaited new album is the product of hard
work, fortuitous new partnerships and great songs
that reflect a long and winding period where the
band has collectively been through it all and
come out on the other side far stronger for the
experience. Release Me heralds the arrival of
a tighter and more enthused band, one with a stronger
and deeper sense of who they are.
Fresh off their US tour with the Arctic Monkeys
the band returned to the UK in May for a storming
string of London dates and, following a tour of
Australia with The Strokes, they will return to
the UK in August for Reading and Leeds before
hitting the road for a full UK tour in September.

Pendulum
Announce Massive Arena Tour.
Tuesday 27th
July 2010
Pendulum’s year continues to go from strength
to strength. Following the weekend’s sensational
guest show with The Prodigy in front of 70,000
people at the National Bowl in Milton Keynes,
Pendulum can now confirm details of their ‘Immersion’
Arena tour – their biggest to date –
that’s scheduled for December.
Named after their recently released chart-topping
album, the ‘Immersion’ tour is Pendulum’s
second major live experience in the UK this year
and follows their sold-out tour in May that included
a landmark show at London’s Wembley Arena.
The ‘Immersion’ tour, scheduled as
below, sees Pendulum playing bigger dates than
ever before and features special guests Hadouken!
December
1st – Glasgow, Braehead Arena
2nd – Birmingham, NIA
3rd – London, Wembley Arena
4th – Nottingham, Trent FM Arena
7th – Bournemouth, BIC
8th – Manchester, Central
9th – Newcastle, Metro Radio Arena
10th – Aberdeen, AECC
Tickets go on general sale at 9am on Friday July
30th at a price of £25 for London and £22.50
for all other dates. They’re available from
the 24 hour credit card hotlines on 0844 811 0051
/ 0844 826 2826 or online at www.gigsandtours.com
and www.ticketmaster.co.uk.
In addition to the ‘Immersion’ tour,
Pendulum are also set to be one of the hottest
tips on this summer’s festival circuit with
an eclectic range of special outdoor shows including
London’s Victoria Park on July 30th as guests
to Tiesto and Sonisphere on August 1st where they’re
second on the bill to Iron Maiden. They’ll
conclude this year’s festival season by
headlining the NME / Radio 1 Stage at the Leeds
(August 27th) and Reading (August 28th) festivals.
‘Immersion’ heralds a glorious evolution
in the Pendulum sound. Following the cinematic
orchestration of opening track ‘Genesis’,
the album erupts into life with ‘Salt in
the Wounds’ which harks back to the band’s
underground Drum & Bass roots. Those roots
are echoed through ‘Immersion’, with
‘Crush’ bursting with frenetically
visceral beats, while the collaboration with The
Prodigy’s Liam Howlett on ‘Immunize’
adds an intense industrial undercurrent to its
melodic sonic energy.
Despite remaining loyal to their roots, ‘Immersion’
finds Pendulum embracing a greater sense of eclecticism
than ever before. The result of joining forces
with Swedish metal kings In Flames on ‘Self
Vs. Self’ is a groundbreaking fusion between
drum & bass and metal that recalls the great
cross-genre evolution that Public Enemy and Anthrax
developed on ‘Bring The Noise’. By
contrast, ‘The Fountain’, which features
Porcupine Tree leader Steven Wilson, embraces
both artists’ eagerness to experiment with
progressive arrangements and ambient textures.

Cathedral
Announce One Off Twentieth Anniversary Show.
Thursday 22nd
July 2010
The year 2010 marks the Twentieth Anniversary
of Cathedral and in order to commemorate the occasion
the band will perform a one-off show on December
3rd 2010 at the O2 Academy in Islington, North
London.
For one night only Cathedral will be performing
two sets, including the entirety of their landmark
debut album and Doom Metal classic 'Forest of
Equilibrium' where Lee Dorrian and Garry Jennings
will be joined by the recording line up Mark "Griff"
Griffiths, Adam Lehan and Mike Smail.
This will be followed by a second set of songs
performed by the current line up of Lee Dorian,
Garry Jennings, Brian Dixon & Leo Smee.
Vocalist Lee Dorrian elaborates: “Cathedral
has come along way since those dirge-ridden smoke-filled,
cheap lager and sweat infested early rehearsals
back in 1990. To be brutally honest, back then
we never imagined that we would have continued
on a twenty year journey and still be here to
tell the tale”.
“A lot of bands that have been around this
long tend to shy away from their roots, in favour
of more ‘accessible’ material that
they wrote in their “maturing” stages.
Well, despite the fact that we may have expanded
on our sound and style since those early days,
we are certainly not embarrassed by our origins,
in fact the opposite is true. To commemorate (Commiserate?)
this twenty year marathon, we thought it would
be a cool idea to regroup the line up of our first
studio album for a special one-off show, and perform
it in it’s entirety. Fortunately, everyone
from those days agreed. This will mark the beginning
of the evening, which will be followed by a set
of material ‘post-Forest’ bringing
us right up to date with our latest album, ‘The
Guessing Game’. We are excited about this
event and look forward to seeing you there”.

Blood
Red Shoes Make Your Heart Sink.
Thursday 22nd
July 2010
Steven Ansell and Laura-Mary Carter are pleased
to announce the release of new single “Heartsink”
on August 16th.Taken from their brilliant new
album ‘Fire Like This’, “Heartsink”
is a trademark BRS track and live favourite.
The duo have been touring heavily since the release
of their sophomore album back in Spring and are
set to stop off in over 50 European cities before
the year is up, as well as a stint of Summer festivals
on UK shores.
The track “Heartsink” is a prime
example of the DIY spirit that runs throughout
the album. Recorded on analogue at Liverpool studio,
The Motor Museum, the tracks frantic harmonies
and scorching guitars creates a perfect rock song
as Steven explains:
"We took the energy and simplicity of that
four to the floor beat andlayered it with a guitar sound as aggressive
and industrial as possible. Wenever want to make anything too easy to get into,
it'd be boring. It's a popsong that we tried to destroy from the inside
out basically”
The single comes backed with the track “Into
The Night”, a cover from an episode of one
of the duos biggest influences; “Twin Peaks”.
Originally recorded for a session on Zane Lowe,
the reaction to the cover was so positive that
making it a b-side made perfect sense!.
The band will play the below UK festival dates
and will also play two headline dates this Autumn
in London & Manchester:
Upcoming live dates –
24 July- Sheffield, Tramlines Festival // DiS
Outdoor Stage
25 July- Oxfordshire, Truck Festival
27 August- Reading, Festival Republic Stage 8pm
29 August- Leeds, Festival Republic Stage 8pm
6 October- Manchester, Club Academy
7 October- London, Electric Ballroom

Circa
Survive Announce September 2010 Dates.
Thursday 22nd
July 2010
Circa Survive are set to release ‘Imaginary
Enemy’ on September 20 through Atlantic
Records. It’s the second single to be taken
from their brand new album ‘Blue Sky Noise’,
which is out on July 26. The band have also announced
a UK tour which kicks off at London’s Scala
on September 15.
The band have just wrapped up a UK tour which
included a rapturously received sold out show
at London’s Underworld last week, this marked
their second UK visit this year having been over
in April to play two exclusive shows (at Manchester’s
Roadhouse and London’s Flowerpot), which
received a fantastic 4K review in Kerrang! Magazine.
A remarkably volatile live act, Circa Survive
have headlined numerous sold out tours while also
sharing stages with an array of independent-minded
artists, including My Chemical Romance, Coheed
& Cambria, The Gaslight Anthem, Pelican, Rise
Against, and countless others. The band have additionally
performed at a wide range of festivals including
the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival,
where their performance prompted Spin to praise
frontman Anthony Green’s “crystalline,
soprano vocals” which “whip out above
the fracas, weaving in and out between Circa’s
dueling guitars.” They are also set to play
the prestigious Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival
in Tennessee this summer.
Produced by Grammy Award winner David Bottrill
(Tool, Muse), ‘Blue Sky Noise’ was
released to critical acclaim in the US in April
(which included a phenomenal 4.5/5 review in Alternative
Press - they also graced the cover), it debuted
at number 11 on the Billboard top 200 and went
straight in at number one on both the Alternative
album chart and Vinyl album chart.
The Pennsylvanian quintet formed in 2004 and
unleashed their acclaimed debut, ‘Juturna’
the following year. The album – coupled
with the band’s relentless touring –
saw the birth of a fervent fan following, one
which would catapult 2007’s sophomore release,
‘On Letting Go’ to a Top 25 chart
debut on the Billboard top 200.

You
Me At Six Tour Update And New Video.
Thursday 22nd
July 2010
Now firmly established as one of 2010’s
brightest breaking rock heroes, YOU ME AT SIX
commence another rush of activity with the August
29th release of their new single ‘Stay With
Me’ on Virgin Records.
Taken from their second album ‘Hold Me
Down’ (which debuted at number 5 earlier
this year), ‘Stay With Me’ highlights
the band’s increasingly sophisticated ability
to blend devastating dynamics with immediate pop-fuelled
hooks and intense lyrical themes. Formats include
an iTunes exclusive which features an acoustic
version of ‘Stay With Me’ plus a cover
of 'Starry Eyed' by Ellie Goulding (first performed
at the Radio 1 Live Lounge in May).
The release of ‘Stay With Me’ heralds
another exciting spell of landmark events for
a band who are fast turning their cult fan base
into a fully fledged mainstream proposition. First
up comes the 2010 Kerrang! Awards set to be held
at the end of July where YMAS are one of the major
contenders at this year’s festivities with
nominations for Best British Band, Best Album
and Best Single (for ‘Liquid Confidence’).
YMAS will then follow the awards by making their
main stage debut at this year’s Reading
and Leeds festivals on August 29th and 28th respectively,
joining a bill headed by regular touring companions
Paramore and pop-punk kings Blink 182.
And to cap an already incredible 2010, You Me
At Six will play their second nationwide tour
of the year throughout December. Having previously
played to a combined audience of 25,000 in March
with a tour that culminated at Brixton Academy,
demand for the December run has already resulted
in four extra shows being added to the initial
six-date tour. This time around, an audience of
40,000 people will see the band complete a tour
that includes two Hammersmith Apollo shows.
YOU ME AT SIX’s upcoming tour schedule
runs as below:
August
28th – Leeds Festival, main stage
29th – Reading Festival, main stage

Bloodstock
Update.
Wednesday
21st July 2010
The special 10th anniversary of BLOODSTOCK OPEN
AIR 2010 is less than a month away. Featuring
metal giants such as OPETH, CHILDREN OF BODOM,
FEAR FACTORY, TWISTED SISTER, plus a special guest
slot filled by MESHUGGAH, BLOODSTOCK is the only
outdoor true metal festival in the UK.
With a reputation for introducing new bands to
the world of Metal, BLOODSTOCK is also the place
to find the best of the unsigned talent, the names
who will be on everyone’s lips in the not
too distant future, via the huge unsigned initiative
known as METAL 2 THE MASSES.
Now, with just four weeks to go, the final winners
can be revealed, plus a full rundown of the Saturday
line up.
BOURNEMOUTH - METAL 2 THE MASSES WINNERS
FLAYED DISCIPLE
Following the success of 2009's debut EP 'Drawn
Viscera', Flayed Disciple have now completed their
2010 self titled EP, containing two new tracks
'Ejaculate While Killing' and 'Exodus', keeping
to their soldering iron-hot, thrashing death metal
style. Their new EP oozes brutality & potential,
showing labels, promoters & the metal industry
just how far the band has come, progressively
& evolutionarily. Flayed Disciple have set
themselves a goal for the future of complete worldwide
release of a full length album, and touring in
as many countries that will have them. 2010 is
purely the beginning for a band that has worked
extremely hard to get where they are today, and
who has plenty left in them to be lasting faces
on the worldwide metal scene.
WEBSITE - www.flayeddisciple.com
BLOODSTOCK are also proud to announce the addition
of up and comers COLLAPSE. Drawing from the European
melodic metal of acts such as The Haunted and
Carcass, infused with the crushing grooves of
US bands like Lamb of God and Pantera, COLLAPSE
are bound to go down a storm at the SOPHIE LANCASTER
stage on the Friday. Says frontman Duncan Wilkinson:
“We can’t wait to play Bloodstock!
And on Friday the 13th too! Not only is it perfect
timing for us as we’ve just finished in
the studio, but it will also see us sharing the
stage with some of our personal heroes and musical
influences. Bloodstock has gone from strength
to strength and this year looks set to be a real
stormer. See you down the front “
The BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR METAL FESTIVAL 2010 will
take place at Catton Hall, Derbyshire from 12th
– 15th August.
Weekend tickets are on sale now at www.bloodstock.uk.com

Voyeurs Set To Support Against Me!
Wednesday 21st
July 2010
Japanese Voyeurs have just announced that they’ll
be embarking on a UK tour with Against Me! in
October.
London noise quintet Japanese Voyeurs (label
mates with White Lies, The Cure, Crystal Castles
& Ian Brown at Fiction Records) are 5 feral
children from the capital's underbelly, dosed
up on Gluey Porch Treatments lamenting that they
weren’t born 20 years earlier. The band
are currently in the studio adding the finishing
touches with Garth Richardson, to their much anticipated
debut album, which is expected in the Autumn.
Expect the unexpected! They received great reviews
when they last toured earlier this year, including

Xcerts
To Support Get Cape Wear Cape Fly.
Wednesday
21st July 2010
Just off the road from shows in support of cult
heroes The Get Up Kids and a Main Stage performance
at Rockness, THE XCERTS are about to embark on
a month-long festival jaunt taking in Edge festival,
Rhythms of the World and Sonisphere before joining
long-term friend and musical admirer Get Cape.
Wear Cape. Fly. on tour.
The Xcerts can now confirm that their second
album (and follow up to 2009's 'In The Cold Wind
We Smile') will be called 'Scatterbrain' and released
in the Autumn through Xtra Mile Recordings. 'Scatterbrain'
is the first album by a UK act to be overseen
by US producer Mike Sapone (Taking Back Sunday,
Brand New, Crime in Stereo…) who began work
on the record with the band at his home studio
in Bethpage, New York at the start of the year.
The band released the first single from the new
album in June; 'Slackerpop', like the majority
of the album from which it is taken, it incorporates
the pop-sensibilities that made the band's debut
so great but also shows a new brilliantly sinister,
dirty and earthy quality to the band's sound that
has not been evident before. Catch the band at
the shows below for a preview of what can be expected
on 'Scatterbrain'.

Chiddy
Bang Set To Support Tinie Tempah
Tuesday 20th
July 2010
It’s been a phenomenal year for Chiddy Bang.
Their debut single, ‘Opposite Of Adults’
entered the UK charts at number 12 and remained
in the top 20 for over 5 weeks selling nearly
100,000 copies to date.
Having met at college in Philly in 2008, the duo
quickly came up with a fistful of tunes which
circulated around the American college circuit
like wildfire. In summer 2009 their debut mixtape,
‘Swelly Express’ was uploaded on to
myspace and received over 80,000 downloads in
a month. Since then the band have been riding
on the crest of a wave with Kanye showing much
love on his blog and playing support shows with
the likes of Wale, Kid Cudi, Snoop Dogg, Three
6 Mafia and Mike Posner.
With their debut album ‘Swelly Life’
which they have collaborated with Pharrell amongst
others on, is set for release on the 13th September
and they have just been announced as the main
support for Tinie Tempah on his UK tour-please

New
Night Horse Album.
Tuesday 20th
July 2010
Night Horse are back with their highly anticipated
sophomore album Perdition Hymns, produced and
mixed by Matt Bayles (Pearl Jam, Mastodon, The
Sword). Perdition Hymns is a patent demonstration
of a group that has quickly become a well-refined
song-writing machine. The band has chiseled the
six-minute jam style songwriting of The Dark Wont
Hide You into the hook-laden gems that comprise
Perdition Hymns; with riff driven catchiness and
soaring melodies that stick.
Night Horse exploded on to the Los Angeles rock
scene in 2008, playing their first ever live show
while mixing their debut EP The Dark Wont Hide
You for Tee Pee Records. Since then, Night Horse
has caught the ears and eyes of critics and fans
alike with their unique ability to blend the classic
sounds of hard rock and blues music with a much
needed breath of contemporary fresh air. “If
Sonic Youth had been immersed in an ocean of Allman
Brothers inspiration, or Soundgarden had been
steeped in late 60s Fleetwood Mac, then they might
have turned out something like this. Night Horse
take traditional blues-rock, spark it up with
riotously noisy flashes and drag the rhythms through
an early-90s grunge experience. Moreover, they’re
cohesive, charismatic and compelling.”
Songs like "Choose Your Side" and "Shake
Your Blues" demonstrate guitarists Justin
Maranga and Greg Buensuceso’s flair for
intricately weaving guitar leads and rhythmic
patterns, much like their classic predecessors
Thin Lizzy or The MC5 did, giving room for dexterity
and technicality without ever losing power or
failing to leave massive sonic impression.
Vocalist Sam James Velde balances his swagger
with infectious melody and phrasing. His delivery
is deliberate and impassioned, while also being
diverse. At times harkening the reckless abandon
and attitude of AC/DC's Bon Scott and the refined
poise of Free's Paul Rogers, he holds steady to
his own confidence and identity while spinning
tales of love, loss and regret, without a plea
for mercy or a tear to shed. This is best exemplified
on songs like "Come Down Halo" and "Black
Clouds'.
The rhythm section of bassist Nick D'itiri and
drummer Jamie Miller stands as the brick and mortar;
the glue that binds taut rhythms and locked grooves
together to harness Night Horse's assault. Not
to fall below the bar set by greats such as Led
Zeppelin, Melvins or early Aerosmith, D'itiri
and Miller approach this attack with swing and
finesse, giving way to a driving and impenetrable
rhythmic force, shining bright on songs like "Angel
Eyes" and "Hard to Bear".
Perdition Hymns is a rock and roll classic for
current times; a statement of what's to come within
today's musical landscape; a missing link to years
gone by; and a glimpse into what is about to become.

The
Charlatans Album And Tour News.
Tuesday 20th
July 2010
With a career that has already spanned two decades,
The Charlatans release their new album ‘Who
We Touch’ on September 6th 2010 through
Cooking Vinyl. A 2 CD limited edition package,
including exclusive early versions of tracks and
additional tracks that never made it onto the
album will also be available.
Their eleventh studio album, ‘Who We Touch’
was produced by Youth (Paul McCartney, Primal
Scream and The Verve) and was recorded at Britannia
Row in London, on the same desk that saw the creation
of New Order’s ‘Blue Monday’.
Featuring eleven tracks, the album must surely
rank as their boldest to date, radically broadening
their aesthetic remit. It is, says Burgess, “a
soulful voyage”, a journey through moods
uplifting and profound, dark and delirious and
ultimately concluding in blissful optimism. Its
sound is inspired by many heroes, yet always sounds
like no-one other than The Charlatans themselves.
The Charlatans play the following shows in October:
5th Hatfield, The Forum
7th Newcastle, O2 Academy
8th Edinburgh, HMV Picture House
9th Dundee, Fat Sam’s Live

Violent
Soho Set To Release Album.
Thursday 15th
July 2010
Violent Soho met playing in the Pentecostal church
band in their home town of Mansfield, Brisbane,
bang in the middle of Australia’s Bible
Belt.
Heavy with angst and boredom the boys started
thrashing it out in drummer Michael’s parent’s
garage while they were at church. They discovered
their love for gigantic four chord chain-saw songs
written through a bucket bong haze to blast off
the suburban blues.
The Church’s loss was rock’s gain.
They worked service industry jobs, self released
an album and drove themselves round Australia
for 5 years after school. On the other side of
the world in New York an Alternative Rock Godhead
was stirring, ready to change their lives.
A copy of the album they recorded in their garage
found its way into Thurston Moore’s hands.
He was down the front head banging at their first
gig in New York at the legendary Lower East Side
hang out Pianos. The buzz around their punishingly
hard live show spread to Rick Rubin, who personally
invited them to play his condo in Malibu. Rock
Godhead no.2 declared his fandom.
Thurston offered them a deal on his Ecstatic Peace!
label and chose the most skilful producer in the
genre. Gil Norton (Jimmy Eat World, The Distillers)
made the record in Rockfields studio in the Welsh
countryside, with mixing duties handled by Rich
Costey (Mastodon, Muse, Mars Volta, Interpol).
That’s the production team behind the crunchy,
layered sound of some of the biggest guitar records
of all time (The Pretender Foo Fighters)
Violent Soho are a heavy touring band, having
passed through every one horse town in the US
twice, honing their ferocious live show that explodes
with super-tight hardcore power. Right now they
are limbering up for Lollapolooza 2010.
Thick, sludgy grunge treacle pours out of the
album from every sweaty pore, from mosh pit numbers
like ‘Jesus Stole My Girlfriend’,
‘Son of Sam’ and ‘Bombs Over
Broadway’ to more introspective balladeering
like ‘Outsider’ and ‘Narrow
Ways’.
Low-slung and stoned, Violent Soho’s album
is an accomplished half hour alienated monster.
TRACKLISTING
1. Here Be Dragons
2. Jesus Stole My Girlfriend
3. Son of Sam
4. Generation
5. Muscle Junkie
6. Outsider
7. Slippery Tongue

Heights began to evolve just one year ago when
the experimentations of five young musicians crashed
together. Building layer upon layer of beautifully
distorted melody, hard percussion and raw soaring
vocals seems to be innate to the quintet who bring
their immaculate influences, such as Cult Of Luna,
a fresh post-hardcore edge.
Not long after their forming, Heights self-released
their debut EP, ‘The Land, The Ocean, The
Distance’ which received instant attention
and they began to relentlessly tour the UK, earning
themselves an infamous live reputation as a band
who evoke upmost chaos and insania in even the
most placid of crowds.
Now, Heights are touring the UK festival circuit,
fresh from Download and T In The Park, they’re
set to spend the rest of the year on the road
playing everywhere and anywhere, from Basements
to Open Air Festivals! The monumental wall is
building once again, as they build crescendos
of noise for a debut album.

Attack Attack! Set To Tour The UK.
Wednesday 14th
July 2010
Flash-back to the late 1950's when rock music
was becoming the single most infectious phenomenon
the world had ever seen. The people at the forefront
of this era were the ones who had something inherently
special and unique to bring to music. Flash forward
to the present and the same is still true, but
rock music is now an aggressive match of 'king
of the hill', where the only ones standing out
are the ones who have the capacity to re-invent
rock. Attack Attack! is that band.
Bringing their intensely unique show to the UK
for the first time in October 2010 the band commented,
“We are so stoked to play for an audience
that has never seen us in a place that we have
always wanted to visit!" Catch them on the

On their sophomore effort, Attack Attack! continue
their furious path upwards to the top of the hill,
blending the most extreme elements of metal and
pop to conjure up what can only be categorized
as a new genre all together.
Having sold an impressive 75,000+ albums in the
States, Attack Attack! stand as the kings of this
ground-breaking new age of music, establishing
a legacy that will soon spread around the world.
The
Sword Set To Release New Album.
Wednesday
14 th July 2010
One of the foundations of the metal revival of
the past ten years, Austin TX’s The Sword
have released two flawless slabs of vintage heaviness
on Kemado Records, toured the world with Metallica,
and were one of the first bands to lock into a
whole new legion of fans through Guitar Hero.
This summer, the band casts its gaze to the stars
for Warp Riders, their third full-length and their
most ambitious effort to date.
Warp Riders is The Sword’s first concept
album, a science fiction maelstrom put to the
storming, relentless riffage and pounding rhythms
upon which the band has staked its reputation.
It’s also their most flat-out, supercharged,
adrenaline-pumping work yet, a chrome-plated war
machine that lords over the blackened sky. From
the street-prowling anthems “Night City”
and “Lawless Lands” to the two-part
showdown of “The Chronomancer,” to
the furious mechanics of closing track “(The
Night the Sky Cried) Tears of Fire,” The
Sword forces eminent domain ruling over heavy
metal for the next decade, and welcome all challengers
for an ill-fated shot at the title.
Warp Riders tells the tale of Ereth, an archer
banished from his tribe on the planet Acheron.
A hardscrabble planet that has undergone a tidal
lock, which has caused one side to be scorched
by three suns, and the other enshrouded in perpetual
darkness, it is the background for a tale of strife
and fantasy, the battle between pure good and
pure evil. How it’s told – through
the dueling lead guitars of J.D. Cronise and Kyle
Shutt, and the concussive rhythm section of bassist
Bryan Ritchie and drummer Trivett Wingo –
underscores the narrative with molten steel and
unreal precision.
Produced by Matt Bayles (Pearl Jam, Mastodon,
Isis), Warp Riders is the band’s first foray
into outsider involvement in the making of an
album, having self-produced both their first two
LPs for Kemado (2006’s Age of Winters and
2008’s Gods of the Earth). “It was
sort of an unspoken thing that we'd use an established
producer for this record,” Cronise explains.
“We felt it was important on the first two
albums to do things ourselves, so we could sort
of draw the blueprint of our sound exactly the
way we wanted.” Bayles picks up the torch
on Warp Riders and delivers the band’s most
full-sounding, nuanced recording yet, bringing
the music to a new level of face-shredding ferocity.
Says Bayles of the experience, “I think
there’s a more diverse set of influences
coming through in the songwriting. Don't fear:
it’s still the Sword, just with a few extra
twists. J.D. has gotten more confident as a singer
and I think it shows on Warp Riders.”
Everything you’ve loved about The Sword
in the past has been magnified, amplified, boosted
and gnarlified. Warp Riders is the most accurately
realized effort by the band yet, a tribute to
comic books, dimestore sci-fi paperbacks, the
legacy of FM rock radio, and the all-consuming
power of heavy metal.

Linkin
Park Set To Release 'A Thounsand Suns' And Tour Europe.
Tuesday 13th
July 2010
Los Angeles, CA (July 8, 2010) – Through
their official website (www.linkinpark.com), LINKIN
PARK has announced a September 14th release date
for their new album
A THOUSAND SUNS (Machine Shop Recordings/Warner
Bros.). The album is co-produced by Rick Rubin
(U2, Johnny Cash) and Linkin Park vocalist Mike
Shinoda, who last joined forces to produce Linkin
Park’s 2007 release, Minutes To Midnight.
The band also announced that the first single
from the new album will be “The Catalyst,”
which debuts on radio worldwide on August 2 and
will also be featured on the band’s MySpace
Music profile (http://www.myspace.com/linkinpark).
Prior to the song’s release, the band and
MySpace are teaming up for “Linkin Park,
Featuring You,” a unique promotion that
gives fans a first-of-its-kind opportunity to
collaborate with Linkin Park to produce their
own song based on some of the tracks from the
forthcoming single.
A winner will be chosen by Linkin Park and their
submission will either be included on the band's
new album or the winner will be invited to perform
with the band on a song on the upcoming record.
Beginning tomorrow, July 9th, fans can go to myspace.com/linkinpark
to download audio stems from “The Catalyst.”
Fans will be encouraged to adjust the stems and
also record and produce their own additional tracks.
Fans can use their own music production software
to create their song and then upload it to the
band via their MySpace page. Once each new version
is submitted, the track will be shared in an embeddable
player, which anyone can access to rate and comment,
as well as click through to record their own tracks.
The contest is live as of tomorrow.
The “Linkin Park, Featuring You” promotion
is the start of a multi-phase global partnership
between the band and MySpace Music. Throughout
the next four months, Linkin Park fans worldwide
will have access to live shows, exclusive content
and special chances to interact with the band
like never before through the MySpace Music platform.
“Our albums are the foundation of who we
are as a band, and reserving a spot for a fan
to play on one of our songs felt like a way to
show our dedication to them,” says Shinoda.
“There are a lot of unknowns about what
might get submitted for this contest, but that’s
what makes it fun. Our fans continually energize
us with their creativity and dedication, so I
think they’re going to come up with something
great.”
The band (Shinoda, vocalist Chester Bennington,
drummer Rob Bourdon, guitarist Brad Delson, DJ
Joe Hahn and bassist Dave "Phoenix"
Farrell) also recently announced that they’ll
be touring Europe this fall, beginning Wednesday,
October 20th at the O2 World, Berlin and wrapping
Wednesday, November 11th at the 02 Arena, London.

Respect
To stuart Cable.
Tuesday 13th
July 2010
It was with heavy hearts that we all first heard
the saddening news about the passing of Stuart
Cable, founding member of Killing For Company,
former drummer of the Stereophonics and tragically
missed son, father, brother and band-mate.
To honour the life’s-work of this talented
and giving individual, on July 25th Stuart’s
current band members from rock group, Killing
For Company, will be releasing a single dedicated
to his memory.
The proceeds from ‘Former Mining Town’
will be donated towards the charities, Teenage
Cancer Trust and Ty Hafan, the family hospice
for young lives.
In the past Stuart regularly involved himself
in charitable events, raising funds throughout
the years for Macmillan Cancer, NetAid and other
charities. He was part of a billboard campaign
for Testicular Cancer Awareness in 2002 and recently
completed a 50 mile Welsh Cycle Challenge for
PACT – Parents & Abducted Children Together,
only a few days before his tragic death.
His Killing For Company band members commented:
“To think Stu won’t be joining us
on stage anymore is a hard thought to face and
although his passing is tragic, we hope to draw
some positive from this difficult time. As a band,
we are honoured and privileged to have shared
the experiences we've had with Stu.
We will be releasing the single, ‘Former
Mining Town’, and dedicating it to Stuart;
he was hugely proud of the album and this track
in particular. All funds raised will be donated
to Teenage Cancer Trust and Ty Hafan.
Not only have we lost a rock legend but also a
best friend and the heart of our band. The stage
will not be the same without him.”
‘Former Mining Town’ was written and
recorded by Killing For Company in 2009 and will
be available for download only from July 25th
2010 via iTunes and all other major online stores.
Please join us in this worthy cause and pay tribute
to the talented musician that has been lost to
us all.

July 2010
Little Fish singer, writer and guitarist Juju
says that the band’s recent single ‘Am
I Crazy?’ is about “the pain you go
through when falling in love” but the title
could equally refer to the crazy ride the band
have experienced in the last year or so since
legendary songwriter/producer Linda Perry heard
their demos, flew to the UK to see them play at
a pub in Oxford, signed them on the spot and took
them out to LA to produce their first album. This
has been followed by a hectic touring schedule
supporting a who’s who of rock bands including
Placebo, Them Crooked Vultures, Hole, Juliette
Lewis and, most recently, Blondie. This, plus
having three songs on the Rock Band game, a song
in the new Hilary Swank movie ‘The Resident’
and a host of great reviews for their live show,
as well as Radio 1 play and playlisting on XFM
and Kerrang! TV have brought the band to the public’s
attention even before the release of this, their
first album. The addition of a Hammond player
to the Oxford-based two piece has enabled them
to replicate the album sound on stage. The album,
much of which was recorded live, is released on
Custard/Island Records on August 16th.
The songs on the album, titled ‘Baffled
And Beat’, are about love, life, betrayal
and pain according to Juju. “Our songs are
about people. They write away our sickness. They
define us by what we are not. They speak of chaos
and confusion, relationships, their conflicts
and our need for cures. The songs run alongside
all that we live; our failings, our contradictions,
our hungers, our excesses, our exits, our shadows.
A wound opened by betrayal, love, life, is slow
to heal. If we bow our head and look to the ground,
it is because we are searching for the things
we have lost. Mostly the songs speak of the constant
strain living has on the nerves, so as to make
sense of it. They speak of people with possibilities,
of junk in need of hunger and of the pains within
us. People waiting on street corners and in cafeterias
for love and life to happen, all this knowing
that one day affection will burn us and we will
make it to happiness. It came to us to sing, to
play as the songs ran along with us.’’
Onstage, Little Fish are sensual thunder, drawing
you in with dangerous warmth. Most often Juju's
self taught guitar style blazes through as Nez
vigorously propels himself and beats his way through
the songs. "It's like an exorcism,"
says Juju when the songs come. "They are
based on human expression, sometimes things that
can't be said are best left sung."
JuJu’s voice haunts and mesmerizes in a
similar way to Patti Smith. What’s in evidence
throughout the band’s music is passion and
intelligence, maybe even a little anger, but it’s
melodic and true to the song. The Little Fish
album is all real drums – half of it is
live – no click track, no over dubs. Linda
Perry gave JuJu a really hard time in the studio
and pushed her with her writing. According to
JuJu, Linda is a, “Fearless, bolshie, American
rock star/super star who believes in herself.”
It’s rubbed off on JuJu helping to create
music with serious attitude. “She would
send me away to a room and say don’t come
out until you’ve got it finished. She told
me she has never been so tough on any artist that’s
she’s worked with, but she showed me what
I have inside of me and brought the best out in
me.” Listening to their music you can hear
this creativity in all its glory. “I have
to be by myself in a room when I’m writing
so no one can hear me shouting and screaming like
an exorcist. Some people can write in public,
but not me. For me it’s a solitary experience,
so I can unlock my lyrics and bare my soul and
inspiration.”
The name Little Fish is the result of Juju's daydream
"Feel free, I wake up in a head spin. I am
me. I am just a Little Fish. I see what I see..."

Imperial
Vengance Start Work On Second album.
Thursday 8th
July 2010
Imperial Vengeance have entered the studio to
begin recording of their second album, due for
release later this year via Transcend Records.
The album promises to be a nightmarish tapestry
of opiate Victoriana and Kafkaesque atmospheres.
Ms. Lori Lewis, the acclaimed soprano with Therion,
Aesma Daeva joined the band the studio this weekend
for the recording of “The Black Heart of
Empire”; bringing her voice to a double
slice of IV intrigue - “The Devil in The
Detail” and “Veiled Threats Over Cocktails”.
(Left to right: David Bryan, Lori Lewis, C. Edward
Alexander)
The band had the following to say:
“Having someone that comes primarily from
a classical background, but additionally works
in the Metal industry, rather than it being the
other way around, was the priority. Both of the
new tracks are specifically rooted in specific
styles of singing and given Lori’s extensive
history with such entities as Minnesota Orchestra,
The St Paul Chamber Orchestra, and VocalEssence,
she understands the nuances and intricacies involved.
It was amazing, she nailed the parts first time
in virtually every take.”
Preceding this album release, Imperial Vengeance
are set to unleash a special edition DVD of director’s
cut videos and extensive exclusive extras on 12th
July.
This special edition disc features promo videos
for the album track, ‘6th Airborne Division’,
shot at the 400 Company studios in London and
their Madness cover, ’Night Boat To Cairo’
plus tons of special features including audio
commentaries by C. Edward Alexander and David
Bryan, unseen production photo galleries, behind
the scenes footage – ‘A Gentlemans’s
Miscellany’ and ‘The Cairo Cutaway’
and exclusive footage from ‘The Harry Patch
Recordings’.
You can catch Imperial Vengeance live when they
hit the road with Sabbat in August.

Circa
Survive Hit The UK.
Tuesday 6th
July 2010
Circa Survive are set to release their brand new
album ‘Blue Sky Noise’ on July 26
via Atlantic Records, preceded by single ‘Get
Out’ on July 19. The band have also announced
a UK tour which kicks off on July 12 in Cardiff
and includes a date a London’s Underworld
on July 14.
Produced by Grammy Award winner David Bottrill
(Tool, Muse), ‘Blue Sky Noise’ was
released to critical acclaim in the US last month
(which included a phenomenal 4.5/5 review in Alternative
Press - they also grace this month’s cover),
it debuted at number 11 on the Billboard top 200
and went straight in at number one on both the
Alternative album chart and Vinyl album chart.
The Pennsylvanian quintet formed in 2004 and unleashed
their acclaimed debut, ‘Juturna’ the
following year. The album – coupled with
the band’s relentless touring – saw
the birth of a fervent fan following, one which
would catapult 2007’s sophomore release,
‘On Letting Go’ to a Top 25 chart
debut on the Billboard top 200.
Circa Survive launched work on ‘Blue Sky
Noise’ in 2008 in a cottage in Doylestown,
Pennsylvania (which they named ‘The Creek
House’), signed to Atlantic a year later
and recorded the album. The twelve songs on ‘Blue
Sky Noise’ swell and dissolve into each
other, layers of sound build with revving guitars
and patterned rhythms, and the ardor of Anthony
Green’s vocals allows the record to intensify
and suspend, sprawling into vast atmospheric spaces
and surging together into dramatic climaxes. Every
track stands alone, but each stands taller beside
its companions.
A remarkably volatile live act, Circa Survive
have headlined numerous sold out tours while also
sharing stages with an array of independent-minded
artists, including My Chemical Romance, Coheed
& Cambria, The Gaslight Anthem, Pelican, Rise
Against, and countless others. The band have additionally
performed at a wide range of festivals including
the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival,
where their performance prompted Spin to praise
frontman Anthony Green’s “crystalline,
soprano vocals” which “whip out above
the fracas, weaving in and out between Circa’s
dueling guitars.” They are also set to play
the prestigious Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival
in Tennessee this summer.
The band were in the UK in April to play two exclusive
rapturously received shows (at Manchester’s
Roadhouse and London’s Flowerpot), which
received a fantastic 4K review in Kerrang! Magazine.
They are back for a headline tour in July, full

Dragonforce
Live Album.
Monday 5th
July 2010
DRAGONFORCE, the stellar musicians whose latest
‘Ultra Beatdown’ album charted strongly
all over the world, have announced the release
of their first live album.
Titled ‘Twilight Dementia’ and produced
by longstanding DF collaborator Karl Groom along
with band guitarists Herman Li & Sam Totman,
this double live set is now confirmed for a September
13th 2010 release on the Spinefarm label.
Featuring 13 tracks, including such pivotal numbers
as ‘Fury Of The Storm’, ‘Operation
Ground And Pound’, ‘My Spirit Will
Go On’, ‘Valley Of The Damned’,
‘Heroes Of Our Time’ & ‘Through
The Fire And Flames’, this exercise in soaring
vocals & advanced guitar pyrotechnics was
recorded across 19 UK shows, with the very best
takes lovingly compiled and mixed by Groom, Totman
& Li.
Says Herman:
“For years, fans have been asking us to
record a live album, but honestly, we never really
had the time due to our worldwide touring commitments
and studio album recording. However, due to the
overwhelmingly positive feedback from fans on
the ‘Ultra Beatdown World Tour’, we
decided to finally put some real thought into
it...
“The idea was to record every single show
from the last leg of the tour, so we could pick
the best take of each song without needing to
do any overdubs in the studio; keeping the whole
thing ‘LIVE’ like all the classic
live metal albums.
“These recordings really capture the raw
sonic energy of a Dragonforce show in fine detail.
It is so real that you can hear the noise of the
crowd and experience the show as it was that night
– you can even hear the guitar pedals being
stepped on!”
FORMED IN 1999, Dragonforce – a multi-national
amalgam of players at the very top of their game
– have spent the past decade proving that
virtuoso musicianship and strong songwriting values
can appeal to rock fans right across the board;
it’s a journey that has seen the band playing
sold-out headline shows around the world, including
in markets as far afield as China, Hawaii, New
Zealand, Russia & Columbia, forging a telling
relationship with the ‘Guitar Hero’
franchise, and tucking four strong studio albums
under their collective belt, with sales currently
topping the two million mark worldwide.
And now, whilst seeking a replacement for recently
departed frontman ZP Theart, the band have delivered
a set of recordings that successfully highlight
the non-stop energy and entertainment-or-bust
ethos of the Dragonforce musicians in full live
flow.

miss out on this.” --NME, September 2000

of Rated R’s “Feel Good Hit Of The
Summer,” “The Lost Art Of Keeping
A Secret,” “Better Living Through
Chemistry” and “Quick And To The Pointless.”
The B-sides are “Ode To Clarissa”;
“You’re So Vague,” a spoof of
Carly Simon’s “You’re So Vain”;
covers of Romeo Void’s “Never Say
Never” and the Kinks’ “Who’ll
Be The Next In Line”; a live version of
the album’s “Monsters In The Parasol”;
and a re-recording of “Born To Hula,”
an early QOTSA song. The other Reading Festival
tracks are concert takes on “Ode To Clarissa,”
three songs from the band’s debut album
(“Regular John,” “Avon”
and “You Can’t Quit Me, Baby”),
and “Millionaire,” a song originally
from Josh Homme side project Desert Sessions.
Issued in June 2000, Rated R was QOTSA’s
breakthrough, the band’s second album but
first on a major label. Led by singer-songwriter
Homme and emerging from influential California
desert rockers Kyuss, QOTSA debuted with a self-titled
album in 1998 that instantly earned the group
accolades. After a tour, QOTSA returned to the
studio with Homme’s long-time collaborator
and co-producer Chris Goss (of Masters of Reality)
as well as former Kyuss bassist-singer-songwriter
Nick Oliveri. The result was Rated R, which guested
Screaming Trees’ Mark Lanegan (lead vocals
on “In The Fade”) and Judas Priest’s
Rob Halford (backing on “Feel Good Hit Of
The Summer”). But it was the anthemic “The
Lost Art Of Keeping A Secret” which became
the band’s most popular song.
Rated R was, as its NME reviewer wrote, “the
best, most important rock album for years.”

Tarja
Announces One Off London Show
Thursday 1st
July 2010
TARJA HAS just announced a headline London date
for Wednesday, October 13th – only the third
time that the former Nightwish singer has played
live in the UK under her own name.
The show will take place at the Shepherd’s
Bush Empire in West London, with a special guest
act due to be confirmed shortly.
More immediately, however, Tarja will be releasing
a new track, ‘Falling Awake’, on July
19th as a vinyl 10” only via Spinefarm Records
UK.
This highly collectible format will be limited
to 1000 copies, all of them pressed onto ‘marbled’
vinyl & numbered by hand, and will be available
exclusively from online retailer What Records
(www.whatrecords.co.uk ).
‘Falling Awake’ is the first track
to be released from the forthcoming Tarja outing,
‘What Lies Beneath’ – the second
full album beneath the ‘Tarja’ banner,
the follow up to 2007’s ‘My Winter
Storm’.
This version of the track differs from the one
that will appear on ‘What Lies Beneath’
in that it features a special guest appearance
from Five Finger Death Punch and former Alice
Cooper guitarist Jason Hook. Mixing has been handled,
as with much of the new album, by renowned UK
producer Colin Richardson, whose track record
numbers artists such as Slipknot, Machine Head
& Bullet For My Valentine.
The B-side of the 10” is ‘The Good
Die Young’ – a specially mixed version
of the song from the new Scorpions album, ‘Sting
In The Tail’, with Tarja’s vocals
now more prominent overall.
‘What Lies Beneath’ is scheduled for
release on September 3rd 2010 via Spinefarm Records
UK, preceded by single/video ‘Until My Last
Breath’ on August 16th.
Further UK shows & festival appearances are
being looked into for 2011.

White Crosses was produced by veteran producer
Butch Vig (Green Day, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins)
who also produced Against Me!'s 2007 album New
Wave. The decision to work with Vig again was
a no-brainer. "He gets our band and brings
tons of great ideas to the table," says frontman
Tom Gabel. "I really can't imagine a better
creative relationship."
Against Me! spent the past two years touring non-stop
in support of New Wave, which was released by
Sire Records in July 2007. Called "the most
invigorating, zeitgeist-capturing rock album in
years" by Spin, New Wave was named the magazine's
"Album of the Year”. It also received
the same accolade from Big Cheese magazine and
appeared in the Top Albums lists in Kerrang!,
Rolling Stone, Blender and Rock Sound.
Forming in Toronto in 2002, Fucked Up have wasted
no time in building a legacy and discography that
defies belief. Prolific and talented, they combine
political commentary with incredible musicianship
and a sense of theatre, making music like no other
hardcore band in history. They also like to employ
creative methods of spreading information and
misinformation, adopting bizarre aliases and keeping
even the most basic of facts in a state of constant
flux. To date, they have released two full-length
albums (Hidden World and Chemistry of Common Life)
and three ‘official’ singles collections
(mining from their seam of countless 7 and 12”s).
They are currently working on their third studio
album (due 2011) and have the next in their annual
Chinese Zodiac 12” series lined up with
‘Year of the Ox’ due this September.

anticipated debut album, which is expected in

Plymouth hard-twang, roots-punk quartet, Crazy

Gaslight
Anthem Announce Massive UK Tour.
Wednesday
30th June 2010
Following the successful release of their critically
acclaimed new album AMERICAN SLANG, New Jersey-based
punk rock heroes, The Gaslight Anthem, are very
proud to announce their next European tour.
AMERICAN SLANG debuted at #16 on the U.S Billboard
Top 200 Albums Chart selling well over 26,000
units during its first week of release.
The album came in at #18 in the UK, #8 in Germany,
#12 in Canada and #2 on the Dutch Alternative
Charts.
The UK and Eire dates are as follows:
October:
21st UK London, Hammersmith Apollo
22nd UK Southampton, Guildhall
23rd UK Bristol, Academy
24th UK Wolverhampton, Civic
November:
16th UK Nottingham, Rock City
17th UK Leeds, O2 Academy
18th UK Newcastle, O2 Academy
19th UK Edinburgh, Picture House
20th UK Manchester Apollo
21st IRL Dublin, Olympia
22nd N.IRL Belfast, Mandela Hall
Tickets go on sale this Friday (July 2) at 9AM
from www.aloud.com
With AMERICAN SLANG, The Gaslight Anthem have
made an extraordinary leap forward. The third
long player reveals a remarkably powerful rock
‘n’ roll outfit honed by two years
of nearly non-stop touring.
Singer/guitarist Fallon’s passionate lyrical
approach has grown more personal and introspective,
his raw throated vocals stronger and more resonant
against the band’s pulse-pounding dynamic
force. Songs like “Bring It On,” “Orphans”
and the rousing title track bristle and burn with
the spirit of soul, the energy of punk, and the
artistic ambition of any hall of famer you’d
care to name.
AMERICAN SLANG is the battle cry of a great band
finding its own voice and using it to shout to
the rooftops and beyond.
2009 was a monumental year for The Gaslight Anthem.
The band toured the world in support of their
acclaimed album THE '59 SOUND and were featured
performers at major festivals including Coachella,
Rock Am Ring/Rock Im Park, Glastonbury, Pinkpop,
Lollapalooza, Reading and Leeds, Hyde Park Calling,
Fuji Rock, Hurricane, Gurten and Roskilde. THE
'59 SOUND was named one of the best albums of
the year (and, in some cases, the decade) by NME,
Kerrang!, Q Magazine, VISIONS, Rock Sound and
Big Cheese, and the band also won the "Best
International Newcomer" award at last year's
Kerrang! Awards.

June 2010
Led by the single ‘Birds And Planes’,
released on digital download and limited-edition
7” vinyl, available just prior to the album
on July 26, ‘Growing Pains’ is the
sound of a one of the UKs most exciting bands
hitting their stride. It comes, following a handful
of introductory independent releases over the
past year and a bit, after which the band's frontman
and creative force Matt Bigland entered Bridlington's
Lodge Studios with producer James Kenosha to record
the debut, taking place over January and February
this year. The result is a storming rock powerhouse
of big pop songs driven by the kind of wall shaking
undercurrent only a three piece can muster.
Bigland says of the album: "I know it sounds
bent but I liked the idea of people to be able
to sing along to the songs, even if they were
singing about being hated or upset. I wanted to
make a record that kicks people in the face whilst
getting stuck in their head."
Their career to date was led by the January 2009
debut 7" single ‘My Rock N Roll’,
followed by a second single ‘Traynor’,
and last year's summer release, modestly titled
‘The Most Powerful EP In The Universe’
- which spawned songs such as ‘Summer Hit
Single’, ‘Beach Bug’ and ‘Cat
Attack’.
Their live plot to date has seen them tour with
a rich cast of bands including a UK/European jaunt
with the Pixies in December, and a French tour
with Violens for the coveted Les Inrocks tour
last Spring. On the festival circuit the band
has shared stages with Them Crooked Vultures on
the Radio One tent at last year's Reading and
Leeds festivals, and they headlined NME's Halloween
spectacular at Koko last October. Elsewhere they
have performed alongside Future Of The Left, Pulled
Apart By Horses and The Automatic, and last summer
stormed the festival circuit performing at Bestival,
Oxegen, T In The Park, and aforementioned Reading
and Leeds festivals.
They will return to the live stage this September
with a headline run ahead of the album's release.
'Growing Pains' will be available digitally and
on CD / Vinyl.

Dead
Confederate Set To Release Sugar
Wednesday 30th
June 2010
DEAD CONFEDERATE, a five-piece from Athens, Georgia,
are all set to unleash their new album Sugar on
the UK on August 23rd.
Winter storms are punishingly cold and uncomfortable,
but are an important source of water for spring
growth. Likewise for Dead Confederate, the series
of New Jersey blizzards that besieged the recording
of sophomore album Sugar (a reference to the record
snowfall) also heralded growth from the darker,
somber realm of their critically acclaimed first
album Wrecking Ball. With an evolving approach
and focused, streamlined sound, Sugar explores
new styles beyond the aching, bleak psychadelia
of the debut.
That progression was shaped by tours with legends
Dinosaur Jr. and Meat Puppets, which increased
Dead Confederate’s appreciation for the
pioneering musicians of the 80s and 90s that laid
the foundation for the band’s sound. New
songs that developed were also lighter and tighter,
without abandoning the driving guitarwork an
With guidance by star producer John Agnello (Dinosaur
Jr., Sonic Youth, The Hold Steady) Sugar pounds
with a weighty, dark alt-grunge fervor that recalls
Smashing Pumpkins’ heyday; at other times,
the record buzzes with a frantic distortion and
howling anger reminiscent of The Walkmen. Psychedelic
and prog-rock elements add depth to a broad and
diverse direction for the band — perhaps
most evident on ‘Run From The Gun,’
which blends harmony and Mellotron into a drifting,
airy commentary on war.
For the band, Sugar feels like their first true
album, with Wrecking Ball feeling more like a
collection of their early songs. That cohesion
on Sugar is prevalent even when songs continue
the foreboding feel of Wrecking Ball, such as
Morris’ wailing political lament of ‘By
Design,’ and somber, ominous finale ‘Shocked
To Realize.’

LEGENDARY GUITARIST SLASH TO BE RECORDED IN MANCHESTER
Limited-edition live CDs to be made available
immediately after his show
It was announced today that Legendary Guns n’
Roses and Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash and
his band will be recorded at Manchester Academy
in Manchester, UK on July 3rd, and will release
limited edition, live discs from the band's show
that will made available immediately after the
performance.
There will only be 1200 double-disc CD sets ever
produced. Slash is one of the iconic artists of
our day, and has never before done an instant
recording – capturing the heat and intensity
of the moment and delivering it directly to his
fans.
The consumer price of each collectible disc set
is £20 ($30 USD) online at www.slashonline.com,
and also £20 at the show in Manchester.
Discs may either be picked up at the end of the
show, or shipped home.
These very special CDs will be fully mixed and
mastered on-the-fly specifically for delivery
to CD – not to be confused with a “board”
mix, which usually just involves plugging into
the house sound console and taking their mix.
Therefore the quality will be very close to a
“studio” mixed live CD.
Slash, known for his iconic top hat and Les Paul
guitar, was born in Hampstead and raised in the
city of Stock-on-Trent, Staffordshire, in the
UK. He has gone on to become one of the most influential
and important guitarists in the rock era, transcending
both trends and genres.
Earlier this year, he released an acclaimed solo
album, "Slash", through EMI in the US
and Roadrunner Records in the UK that features
a wide array of his pals making guest appearances,
including Ozzy Osbourne, Fergie, Andrew Stockdale
of Wolfmother (who sings on the current Slash
radio hit “By The Sword”), Dave Grohl
of the Foo Fighters, and the lead vocalist for
his touring band, Myles Kennedy of Alterbridge.
In addition to Slash and Kennedy, other band members
that will be featured on the CD set include Bobby
Schneck on guitar; Todd Kerns on bass and backing
vocals; and Brent Fitz on drums.
Pre-sales for these very special discs will only
continue until the total edition size of 1200
units is sold.
Futures
Sign To Mercury Records.
Wednesday 30th
June 2010
2010 is rapidly turning into the year of Futures.
Both the release of their debut single “The
Boy Who Cried Wolf” and debut mini album
“The Holiday” were a critically and
commercially acclaimed success - leading to their
recent headline show at The Borderline in London
selling out in just three days.
The huge word of mouth buzz building on the band
resulted in massive interest from a number of
labels. On the 23rd June 2010 Futures signed a
worldwide deal to Mercury Records.
Ant West says “Everything seems to be falling
into its right place for our band. The past year
we've had some big decisions to debate but signing
to Mercury was one of the easiest for us to make.
We have written the debut album and are ready
for the studio. Playing music has never been so
exciting.. I can't imagine what the next year
will bring, but we're ready to take Futures to
the next level.”
The band’s debut album is now written and
set for release in early 2011 through Mercury
Records.
The band are also set to sign a major publishing
deal. Futures are dispelling the myth that the
British rock scene isn’t producing quality
bands. Futures are leading the charge for a whole
new generation of great British rock acts…
Formed in 2009, London four piece Futures debut
single “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” shows
a band at the height of their powers, stamping
their footprint as the next wave in the rock world.
The band create a stunning mix of alternative
rock with pop sensibilities. Futures followed
the release of the single with the release of
their debut mini album on the 1st March 2010.
“The Holiday” mini album consisted
of the new tracks – “16”; “Take
Me Home”; “Sal Paradise”; “The
Boy Who Cried Wolf”; “Holiday”;
“The Summer” and “Thank You”.
The album was released to widespread critical
acclaim and also garnered them a Radio One session
at BBC’s Maida vale studios.
Futures is Ant West (vocals/guitar), Casey Roarty
(guitar), Christian Ward (bass) and George Lindsay
(drums).

StringerBessant
Set To Release Debut Album.
Wednesday
30th June 2010
StringerBessant are proud to announce the release
of their debut album ‘Yard’ on the
12th July 2010 through Xtra Mile Recordings. ‘Yard’,
which was produced by Bruno Ellingham (KT Tunstall,
Merz, Delphic) sees both Gary and Jack sharing
and swapping vocal and guitar parts on several
tracks to sublime effect. Taking their rich, yet
subtle, earthy vocals and folk-rooted acoustic
guitars and re-arranging them; then planting them
in a fertile classic songwriter's imagination,
StringerBessant's symbiosis is complete.
As members of nineties Brit-rock band Reef, both
men have dealt with both sides of being in a successful
band, so the stripped down, genuinely soulful
and melancholy musical partnership is a perfect
vehicle for these contrasting personal, blues-indebted
songs. Free from swagger or rock bombast, the
performances breathe life into these gentle yet
dynamic songs.
Harmonica and lithe lead lines huddle together
upon swaying rhythms while Gary and Jack’s
tremulous and expressive vocals swim across the
top. Harking back to a bygone era where sheer
electric melodies swarmed across simple rhythmic
accompaniment – when the song mattered;
and evoking an ambience was achieved with emotive
words and singing rather than lashings of reverb
and endless harmonies – StringerBessant
have crafted something great, a world away from
anything the two men have previously done.
See them live in July:

Kvelertak
Set To Release Debut Album And Embark On UK Tour.
Wednesday 30th
June 2010
Kvelertak are set to release their eponymous debut
album through Indie Records on 12th July 2010.
Kvelertak shamelessly draw inspiration from every
corner of diversity that can fit into their idea
of good hard-hitting and catchy rock'n'roll. The
band explore many ideals regardless of genre,
but always stay truthful to the basic idea of
the band; good songs performed with the tongue-in-cheek
attitude of their punk-rock pioneers. Unlike the
majority of heavier bands they sing in their native
language – adding even more character to
their already unique sound.
Releasing their much anticipated debut album,
Kvelertak are already well known in Norway for
their furious live energy and catchy, melodic,
metal-inspired punk rock.
The band have built up a dedicated live following
in their native home of Norway and have played
to thousands at the likes Roskilde and Eurosonic
Festival in Holland.
Their album is produced by Kurt Ballou of Converge

Welcome
To Violent Soho
Wednesday
30th June 2010
Thurston offered them a deal on his Ecstatic Peace!
label and chose the most skilful producers in
the genre. Gil Norton (Jimmy Eat World, The Distillers)
made the record in Rockfields studio in the Welsh
countryside, with mixing duties handled by Rich
Costey (Mastodon, Muse, Mars Volta, Interpol).
That’s the production team behind the crunchy,
layered sound of some of the biggest guitar records
of all time (The Pretender Foo Fighters)
Violent Soho are a heavy touring band, having
passed through every one horse town in the US
twice, honing their ferocious live show that explodes
with super-tight hardcore power. All of which
was channelled into this huge sounding long-haired
blast of rage about getting dumped for the love
of Jesus.

SONISPHERE FESTIVAL KNEBWORTH boasts exclusive
headline appearances from IRON MAIDEN and RAMMSTEIN,
plus Friday night headliner ALICE COOPER, IGGY
& THE STOOGES, SLAYER, ANTHRAX, PENDULUM and
more - with over 140 bands set to play - many
of whom you will only see at KNEBWORTH this summer.
With a wealth of musical, comedic and other entertaining
talent on offer, plus FREE MUSIC DOWNLOADS for
every ticket holder, the £132.50 weekend
ticket price - which unlike most festivals carries
NO BOOKING FEE - is hands down the best value
for money out there.
Now, with less than 6 weeks to go, SONISPHERE
has announced a further 10 acts to the already
stellar line up.
Hot off the US Bamboozle roadshow, GOOD CHARLOTTE
will take to the APOLLO stage on Saturday straight
after PAPA ROACH and before PLACEBO for an exclusive
festival appearance. Armed with a plethora of
catchy tunes, the US Pop-Punksters have 4 UK top
10 singles under their studded belts, making them
one of the biggest bands in the world of punk.
With hits such as “The River” - which
was recorded with 2009 SONISPHERE guests AVENGED
SEVENFOLD’s M Shadows and Synester Gates
- “Girls & Boys”, “The Anthem”,
“Lifestyles Of The Rich & Famous”
and “Predictable”, there’s no
excuse not to sing along at GOOD CHARLOTTE’s
only UK festival appearance of 2010.
Another festival exclusive comes in the form of
comedian BRIAN POSEHN’s debut UK performance
at SONISPHERE COMEDY. You’ll recognise Brian
from “The Office - An American Workplace”,
as well as his recently released music video “Metal
By Numbers”. The funnyman - who has appeared
in films such as “The Devils Rejects”
and “Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver
Surfer” and programs including “Just
Shoot Me”, “Seinfeld” and “Friends”
- looks forward to his first UK performance:
‘’As an American metal head it's long
been a dream of mine to attend one of the UK's
famous summer music festivals, the fact that I
get to make my UK debut at Sonisphere is insanely
cool. To be on the same bill as Maiden and Anthrax
is a metal nerd dream I never thought would come
true. Sonisphere Knebworth is sure to be a three
day metal nerdgasm’’
A further 8 bands have also been confirmed, including
exclusive appearances from US noisemakers CONVERGE
and sludge metallers KYLESA, who both fly in from
the States to dish out the decibels on BOHEMIA
and RED BULL stages respectively.
There are also some very welcome additions to
the JAGERMEISTER stage. As well as sets from TIGER
PLEASE, LITTLE LONDON and OUT OF SIGHT, we can
confirm a very special headline appearance from
reformed metal heroes EARTHTONE 9 on the Saturday.
The band are also offering a free 16 track download
to jog people’s memories and familiarise
themselves with their music at www.earthtone9.co.uk.
Says frontman Karl Middleton:
'We are still in shock that we've been asked to
play the mighty Sonisphere festival almost a decade
after we laid et9 to rest. To say that this year
has been full of surprises is an understatement,
it is a dream come true for us to be able to play
at one of the world's premier metal festivals.
We cannot fucking wait to get up there and lay
waste to the Jagermeister stage. If you like groove
based, heavy, melodic music come and check us
out on Saturday. Rest assured you'll see a band
playing with every ounce of conviction, passion
and intensity that they can muster. It's going
to be beautiful.....and terrifying. See you there.
x'
Over on the STONGBOW BOWTIME BAR stage STRAIGHT
LINES will play on the Sunday, with CHROME HOOF
headlining the Saturday.
Look out for details of more comedy, as well as
special guest comperes to be announced shortly.

Reckless
Love Tour Dates.
Tuesday 22nd
June 2010
RECKLESS LOVE, the Finnish rockers who have burst
spectacularly onto the UK scene in the past few
months, have confirmed an 11-date ‘Back
To Paradise’ tour of the UK starting on
September 16th 2010.
With the quartet’s debut self-titled album
picking up stellar reviews, plus a spectacular
Download Festival debut now firmly under their
belt, the time is right for RL (fronted by former
Crashdiet vocalist Olli Herman) to return to the
UK to give further impetus to a new glitter-coated
movement founded on strong songs, equally strong
image and the all-consuming desire to entertain!
To date, the band – signed to Spinefarm
Records UK – have only visited the UK on
two occasions; first, to play a sold-out show
at the Barfly club in London, and second, for
the aforementioned Download outing, where they
packed out the expansive Pepsi Stage tent, being
cited as ‘2010’s surprise package’
by Kerrang! magazine.
The full list of ‘Back To Paradise’
shows is as follows:-
SEPTEMBER
16th – Swindon, The Furnace 23rd –
Sheffield, Corporation
17th – Nuneaton, Queens Hall 24th –
Nottingham, Basement
18th – Manchester, MOHO 25th – London,
Borderline
19th – Glasgow, Cathouse 26th – Reading,
Sub 89
21st – Aberdeen, The Tunnels 28th –
Southampton, The Joiners
22nd – Edinburgh, Cabaret Voltaire
Special Guesting on all dates will be UK ‘stadium
rockers’ Jettblack, whose debut ‘Get
Your Hands Dirty’ single & album are
currently on release, also through Spinefarm Records
UK.
PRIOR TO their ‘Back To Paradise’
tour, Reckless Love release a new digital single
‘Romance’ on July 5th 2010; the single
will come complete with two bonus acoustic tracks,
including a cover of the Def Leppard classic ‘Hysteria’.
Volbeat
Annouince November/December Tour.
Tuesday 22nd
June 2010
VOLBEAT HAVE celebrated the completion of new
studio album ‘Beyond Heaven / Above Hell’
by announcing a run of headline UK shows; the
first time the Danish quartet – already
an arena act in mainland Europe – have embarked
on a tour over here.
The band recently made a much-lauded appearance
at the Download Festival in Castle Donington,
their second showing at this prestigious UK event;
they have also shared European stages with the
likes of Metallica, AC/DC & Rammstein, showcasing
a signature style that that draws equal inspiration
from Johnny Cash, Social Distortion & Metallica
(!), with tattooed singer/guitarist Michael Poulsen
unafraid to show the full breadth of his musical
vision.
The list of dates is as follows:-
NOVEMBER DECEMBER
24th – Portsmouth, Wedgewood Rooms 1st –
Norwich, Waterfront
25th – Dublin, Academy 2nd – Newcastle,
Academy II
26th – Belfast, Spring & Airbrake 3rd
– Glasgow, Garage
28th – Sheffield, Corporation 4th –
Manchester, Academy II
29th – Nottingham, Rescue Rooms 6th –
Bristol, Thekla
7th – Oxford, Academy
8th – Birmingham, Academy II
9th – London, Electric Ballroom
A Special Guest act will be announced shortly.
Prior to these shows, Volbeat will release their
fourth studio outing since first coming together
back in 2001; titled ‘Beyond Heaven / Above
Hell’ and overseen by regular producer Jacob
Hansen, the album – their first for Spinefarm
Records UK – is set to be the band’s
most varied effort to date, with all aspects of
the well-honed Volbeat sound being pushed to new
& exciting levels; in other words, more melody,
more atmosphere and definitely more power, with
the heavier songs – supported by a number
of surprise guest appearances – showing
that Poulsen & Co. are true (dark) masters
of The Riff.
‘A Warrior’s Call’ a song recorded
by the band as a tribute to Danish boxer Mikkel
Kessler (who also features on the track), is now
confirmed to appear on the album.
Sword
Set To Support Ozzy Osbourne.
Tuesday 22nd
June 2010
The Sword will be supporting Ozzy Osbourne at
the iTunes Music Festival taking place at the
Roundhouse in London on July 3rd.
Fans can also apply directly for the chance to
win tickets at http://www.itunesfestival.co.uk/
The band are also in town for their recently announced
initimate headline show at the Camden Barfly on
July 5th that has now Sold Out.
One of the foundations of the metal revival of
the past ten years, Austin TX’s The Sword
have released two flawless slabs of vintage heaviness
on Kemado Records, toured the world with Metallica,
and were honored to grace the past three editions
of Guitar Hero. This summer, the band casts its
gaze to the stars for Warp Riders, their third
full-length and their most ambitious effort to
date. Hitting stores on August 23rd via Kemado
Records, it is the band’s first concept
album and is fittingly grand in scope both lyrically
and in terms of musical craftsmanship.
This also marks the first release where the group
has worked with an outside producer. Helmed by
Matt Bayles (Pearl Jam, Mastodon, Isis), Warp
Riders is anchored by an epic science-fiction
narrative. The storyline is a psychedelic space
opera that explores temporal themes of death and
rebirth.
Everything you’ve loved about The Sword
in the past has been magnified, amplified, boosted
and gnarlified. Warp Riders is the most accurately
realized effort by the band yet, a tribute to
comic books, dimestore sci-fi paperbacks, the
legacy of FM rock radio, and the all-consuming
power of heavy metal.
Francesqua
Tour Dates.
Thursday 17th
June 2010
Despite having only formed a year ago, Berkshire
based quintet Francesqa have wasted little time
in carving out a name for themselves. Having played
“everywhere and anywhere people would have
them”, the band has already notched up shows
alongside the likes of The Automatic, Canterbury,
Futures and Deaf Havana.
With a couple of well received demos under their
belts and an impressive live show on the build,
the five-piece headed to Devon to record ‘We
Lived’ with producer Peter Miles (The King
Blues, Canterbury, Futures). The result, a 5-track
affair, is bursting at the seams with soaring
vocals hooks and summery guitar lines, coupled
with a solid rhythm section that keep proceedings
punchy.
Support for the band has come from all angles,
but perhaps most unexpectedly from Blink 182 and
Angels and Airwaves frontman, Tom Delonge. Delonge
picked the band out from thousands of entries
to open the Slam Dunk Festivals last month.
The band released ‘Ghosts’ as a single
on June 14th, with the 'We Lived' EP set to follow
on July 19th.

Young
Guns Unleash Their New Single.
Thursday 17th
June 2010
Hotly tipped rockers YOUNG GUNS unleash the latest
single from their debut album ‘All Our Kings
Are Dead’, in the form of ‘Crystal
Clear’ on July 26th. The single follows
the singles, ‘Winter Kiss’ and ‘Sons
Of Apathy’, both of which received great
support from the likes of Fearne Cotton, Zane
Lowe, Nick Grimshaw and Daniel P Carter on Radio
1, as well as regular rotation across the leading
music television channels.
The build up to the release of the album (out
12th July) has seen the band complete a sold-out
UK headline tour, as well as appearances at the
Slam Dunk and Download festivals, not to mention
a support slot with Bon Jovi on the opening night
of their o2 Arena London residency.
Add to this a forthcoming schedule that includes
a slot opening the main stage at the Reading &
Leeds festivals, and it’s plain to see why
being a Young Gun is an enjoyable place to be.
The release of ‘Crystal Clear’ perfectly
encapsulates the feelings and aspirations, past
and present of singer, Gustav Wood.
“Crystal Clear is about growing up and realising
that things aren't delivered to you on a plate,”
he explains. “But, that in the face of disappointment
and disillusionment, holding your head up high
is something in itself to be proud of. Against
all odds, I've managed to end up being a part
of something special that really matters to me,
and it has shown me the value of direction and
the importance of working towards something.”
It’s safe to say, that any killing time
they may have been doing previous to ‘All
Our Kings Are Dead’, will be a distant memory
for the band.

For A Cowboy Team Up With Whitechapel For Tour.
Thursday 17th
June 2010
JOB FOR A COWBOY and WHITECHAPEL are to tour together
in November 2010 for one of the most furious and
brutal tours to hit the UK in a long time.
Both Metal Blade outfits slayed at Download 2010
and can’t wait to team up again after steamrollering
through the USA recently.
Jonny Davy from JOB FOR A COWBOY is up for it:
"This is our first European headlining tour
and we are beyond excited. We just finished our
US tour with Whitechapel and are stoked to bring
the party overseas! Fuck Yeah!"
And ALEX WADE from Whitechapel is happy to get
back to the UK after making such a mark on their
dates with Trivium earlier this year:
"We are really stoked to be coming back over
the pond this year with our good friends in Job
For A Cowboy. The U.S. portion of the tour was
a blast and we are looking forward to crushing
the UK and the rest of Europe with JFAC!"

Earthtone
9 Are Back And Offering Their Best Of For Free.
Thursday 17th
June 2010
Nottingham's earthtone9 were a band who showed
a blatant and consistent disregard for anything
approaching conformity throughout their five year
existence. Belching into life with the 5/5 Kerrang
rated 'Lo-Def(inition) Discord' opus in 1998,
they bulldozed, confounded and impressed until
their messy implosion in 2002.
But in that half decade they managed to make a
mark quite unlike any other band of the era. While
half the world was enamoured with the two dimensional
bounce of nu-metal or the melancholic, anti-posturing
charm of grunge, earthtone9 were delivering a
two pronged assault of intense post hardcore aggression
and truly melodic experimentation. Never easily
pigeon holed, they showed a gleeful awkwardness,
a perverse stubbornness to 'not do the obvious
thing'. It undoubtedly hampered their commercial
progression, but it also marked them out as brave
artistic pioneers and an act unafraid to follow
their own path.
Throughout their tenure they were compared to
an endless number of bands. Tool, Neurosis, Faith
No More, Will Haven, Kyuss, Helmet, Deftones -
a list as broad and exciting as you could imagine.
And while there are clear parallels with a plethora
of acts, earthtone9 always maintained a distinct
and aggressively singular sound.
And what excites most on listening to 'Inside,
Embers Glow...', their 16 track career spanning
'best of' album, is just how cutting edge and
downright relevant earthtone9 sound today.
2010 is the ten year anniversary of their defining
album - Arc' Tan' Gent. And in a completely surprise
move, the band have re-emerged from what looked
like total annihilation.
'This is not a rebirth,' laughs bassist Dave Anderson.
'We just got old and wise enough to appreciate
that we did something pretty good together, and
it was worth celebrating. We're not reforming
as such. More reconnecting as friends, and leaving
ourselves open to the occasional show to remind
people that we fucking ruled once.'
And as to why the band decided to give away the
highlights of their musical output, vocalist Karl
Middleton explains:
'Most of our releases are hard to find now, so
we thought that a compilation would be a cool
reminder of what we were about. The tunes that
we've chosen are the ones that either still stand
up or have an extra special place in our hearts.or
both. I'm sure that some people will disagree
with our choices, and that's cool, but we wrote
the songs so we know best.'
'Plus it'll save people the trouble of bit-torrenting
all our albums,' adds drummer Simon Hutchby.
Earthtone9 - as belligerent, contrary and exciting
as we remember!

Opeth
Announced As Final Bloodstock Open Air Headliner.
Wednesday
16th June 2010
With a line-up boasting headline appearances from
CHILDREN OF BODOM, FEAR FACTORY, TWISTED SISTER,
plus a special guest slot filled by MESHUGGAH,
BLOODSTOCK can now confirm the final headline
slot for BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2010. The Friday
night will be closed by Swedish Prog-Metal superstars
OPETH, who headlined back in 2008.
"We're pretty excited about coming back to
play the Bloodstock festival with Opeth.”
States frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt “Myself
and Axe will of course be double-fisting since
we gonna cause some havoc with Bloodbath as well.
We got asked to play since Heaven & Hell cancelled
and even though we obviously feel that we cannot
possibly match their magic or fill the void, it
will be a like a personal tribute show to the
memory of Ronnie Dio. So needless to say I'm honoured
to play, it will be intimidating and emotional
I believe. We'll deliver as usual of course but
yeah, I will be thinking about Dio, that's for
sure."
Since 1990, OPETH have dazzled audiences with
their unique blend of death metal, prog and folk,
earning a diverse fanbase through the use of both
electric and acoustic guitars, and clean and growled
vocals. Their 2008 headline slot earned the band
rave reviews across the music press, for a performance
that had the assembled mass of metalheads captivated
with their intricate, beautifully executed compositions.
With special guests MESHUGGAH preceding OPETH’s
headline slot, we look forward to an awesome close
to the first full day of BOA 2010 on Friday 13th
August.

Heaven
And Hell To Play High Voltage In Respect Of Dio.
Tuesday 15th
June 2010
On the 16th May 2010 Ronnie James Dio passed away
and the world of music mourned the loss of the
greatest voice of heavy metal.
Dio was a truly iconic figure in music, whose
work with Elf, Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Dio and
most recently Heaven & Hell defined a genre.
Heaven & Hell were set to be on the road in
Europe this summer when news came through that
despite the amazing progress he was making Ronnie
wouldn't be well enough to tour and those shows
were cancelled. But now, remaining members Tony
Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice are set
to play a one off show to celebrate his life and
work. The band will be completed by Glenn Hughes
and Jorn Lande who will both contribute vocals.
Former Deep Purple / Black Sabbath star Glenn
Hughes was a close friend of Ronnie’s for
many years and performed a musical tribute at
Ronnie’s funeral service in Los Angeles.
Norwegian Jorn Lande is best known in the UK as
the vocalist for power metal band Masterplan,
he has also released many solo albums including
a tribute to Ronnie. It promises to be a fitting
celebration to a man that the metal scene owes
so much.
“It's going to be a very emotional occasion.
Ronnie loved his fans like no-one else I know
- and they loved him. It will be a privilege doing
a gig in honour of his memory, and to help towards
his charity. Above all, I hope it encourages people
to have regular check-ups for this disease. Early
detection is vital, and greatly improves the chance
of a cure. I know everyone has heard that a million
times before, but seeing one of your best friends
die because we all think we're immune from this
disease, really brings it home. Do it for yourself,
your family, your friends. Ronnie would be proud
of you.” Love & Peace, Geezer Butler
Tony Iommi says “Ronnie’s passing
has left a huge hole, we hadn’t anywhere
near finished what we set out to do as a band
together. He was so looking forward to the European
tour and we hope this appearance will go some
way to fulfilling that.”

Shack
Shakers Tour Dates.
Tuesday 15th
June 2010
Picture it: the rustic grind of rural America.
The cacophonous crunch and wheeze of motor-driven
rock songs accompany the sound of corroded farm
implements awakened to service once again. The
soundtrack of a time when strip malls will choke
with ivy and the vestiges of overdevelopment will
be razed and plowed up for acreage. The Legendary
Shack Shakers confront an America that is in decay
on their seventh full-length album, AGRIDUSTRIAL.
AGRIDUSTRIAL is the statement of an American band
fighting back against a society gone mad with
greed and the usurpation of basic human dignities.
The southern ethos is set on high, as the band
explores the stories and values of those that
have trod the path from our agrarian past, as
testimony to those that will have to live it again.
There are songs that praise Jesus (“Sin
Eater”) and southern-fried provocateurs
(“Dixie Iron Fist”). “Hoboes
Are My Heroes” is borne from singer J.D.
Wilkes’ recent experience of riding the
rails to meet the men that are living on the fringes
of America, as well as to absorb the rustic rhythm
of that life. “Night Ride” recounts
the history of Kentucky’s infamous vigilante
farmer’s union, the Night Riders, who wreaked
havoc on non-union tobacco farms in the early
1900’s. Time and again, the band looks at
their recession-ravaged homeland with a mix of
love, anger and prescience.
Even the sound of AGRIDUSTRIAL is a direct response
to the present day recession in foreshadowing
the looming collapse that awaits to return us
back to self-sufficiency. The band went to a blacksmith
forge and recorded the sounds of hammers, anvils,
tongs, cranks and chains for much of the percussion
on the album. Bassist Mark Robertson produced
the album, doing a tasteful job of marrying the
band’s hard driving rock sound with these
organic flourishes. Also key to the band’s
sound is the ferocious guitar work of new member
Duane Denison, who is fresh off the triumphant
Jesus Lizard 2009 world tour. In addition to being
a member of the Legendary Shack Shakers, Duane
is a member of the Jesus Lizard and Tomahawk.
The Legendary Shack Shakers had already earned
high praise as one of the best live acts around,
with both Jello Biafra and Hank Williams III calling,
J.D. Wilkes “the best front man in the world.”
Robertson combines with drummer Brett Whitacre
to form the Shack Shakers thundering rhythm section.
It’s been said many times, but probably
never so sincerely; this is a band that you must
not miss live.

13th – Sheffield, The Boardwalk

Mother - O My Heart
Friday 4th
June 2010
Vancouver Canada quintet Mother Mother see the
long awaited UK release of their album ‘O
My Heart’ on May 31st. ‘O My Heart’
is Mother Mother's second album on Last Gang Records
(Metric, DFA 1979, The New Pornographers, Crystal
Castles) and since its North American release
has achieved great milestones across radio, press
and the charts in both Canada and the US.
The album is preceded by the unforgettable and
catchy single ‘Hay loft’ on April
19th 2010. Vocalist/Guitarist Ryan Guldemond describes
the track as "Your average tale of barn sex
gone terribly awry... Daddy's got a gun, ya know..."
Mother Mother are generating much recognition
and excitement with their original approach to
modern pop/rock music; a beautifully bent portrait
of vocal harmony, clever, offbeat lyricism, and
dynamic instrumentation. Their sound is best encapsulated
on their new album, ‘O My Heart’,
produced by Howard Redekopp (Tegan and Sara, The
New Pornographers).
Paramount to the rising success of Mother Mother
is their live show. On stage, this group of five
delivers a vast sound, executing pristine vocal
harmonies while utilizing a variety of multi instrumental
talents. With engaging stage chemistry, Mother
Mother recreates the essence of their recorded
music with precision and conviction, whilst never
losing touch with the power of spontaneity and
abandon. No stranger to life on the road, Mother
Mother tour constantly and have built a large
and dedicated fan base in North America. They've
graced the stage with artists such as Pearl Jam,
The Killers and Spoon, and have performed on a
diverse array of festival/showcase stages including
SXSW, CMJ, Pop Montreal, V Fest, Ottawa Blues
Fest, Dawson City Music Festival, Ed Fest, Rifflandia
Music Festival and both the Vancouver and Montreal
International Jazz Festivals.
With considerable accolades and success in their
native Canada as well as substantial headway made
in the US, in 2010 Mother Mother turns their sights
onto the UK and Europe with a spring release of
‘O My Heart’. They will also be recording
the follow up to their acclaimed sophomore album
with a tentative autumn release. 2010 promises
to be a fantastic year for Mother Mother!

Album Release
Friday 4th
June 2010
This is the sound of music with real meaning,
from a band growing in popularity against all
the odds. A band defying expectations and rewriting
the rule books on what can and can't be done in
rock music. A band with such a natural sense of
melody, balanced with seething power and lyrics
that enlighten and inspire, a band of brothers
and sisters, a band of unique origin. This is
the best band you have never heard of. This album
is beyond anything you ever heard before in its
field. We are Anathema: we're here because we're
here.
Anathema return on June 14th with their new album,
We're Here Because We're Here. This is the first
collection of new material from the band since
the 2003 album, A Natural Disaster. A multi-coloured,
multi-layered work of unbridled emotion, passion,
and intensity, the new album has been eagerly
anticipated by their legions of fans around the
globe.
The album has been mixed by Steven Wilson (Porcupine
Tree), who has described it as “definitely
among the best albums I've ever had the pleasure
to work on.”
Anathema have been at the forefront of the UK
rock/metal movement for many years. They began
their journey as pioneers of melodic heavy music,
influencing a myriad of bands to follow them,
before outgrowing all genres and limitations as
they fearlessly explored new territory and new
ways to express feeling through sound.
Formed in Liverpool in 1990, the band’s
sound and musical vision has continually evolved
over the ensuing years while always remaining
true to the band’s original goal of creating
forward-thinking, meaningful, passionate, and
honest music. With each release they moved beyond
the boundaries of limited scenes and pigeon holes,
creating a complex and emotive atmospheric sound.
Anathema consists of brothers Vincent, Daniel
and Jamie Cavanagh, alongside childhood friends
John Douglas and his sister Lee, who is an incredible
singer in her own right. The line-up is completed
by Les Smith, who brings much in the way of production
expertise to the band.
There is a deeper bond in the group that transcends
usual band politics, ego, and self-interest. They
have a shared vision: to make the most incredible
music they possibly can, and it seems, despite
the lavish praise heaped on the band for their
past work, they are about to take the whole thing
to a new level.
Starseed
To Play Download And Other Shows.
Friday 4th
June 2010
Shining brightly indeed, Starseed is living up
to their title track off the new album. Since
capturing the attention of the UK media, 'Shine'
has also received high acclaim internationally
after being released in their homeland of South
Africa in April. The single has reached No.1 on
the South African rock charts and the video is
being screened on all major TV stations. Peace
Machine is now available in stores and online
across South Africa thanks to securing a distribution
deal with Electromode.
With a sound that takes in the epic, melodic rock
tendencies of the resurgent grunge scene, Pearl
Jam to Alice In Chain, all the way through to
the intelligent aggression and energy of hard
rock regulars like Cancer Bats, Soil and Alexisonfire.
Starseed offer up a sound as dynamically post-millennial
as you could wish for.

DEVIL SOLD HIS SOUL, the much loved and influential
underground UK 6 piece release their first new
material in 2 years today, in the form of ‘Callous
Heart’. The digital single is now available
to buy following an exclusive first play on Radio
1’s Rock Show with Daniel P Carter, which
also included an interview with lead singer Ed
Gibbs.
The band have now also be confirmed as Red Bull
stage headliners on Friday 11th at Download 2010.
The band are also, finally set to release their
brilliant new album ‘Blessed and Cursed’
through Century Media on July 12th. Produced by
band guitarist Jonny Renshaw and mixed by Steve
Evetts (Dillinger Escape Plan, Glassjaw, The Cure,
Sepultura), the album also features vocal contribution
from Andrew Neufeld from Comeback Kid/Sights and
Sounds, on the track ‘The Disappointment’,
a crushingly heavy and brilliant track featuring
the largest, sliding riff heard this year.
DSHS are now out on the road for a small run of
intimate live dates to support
‘Callous Heart’, which kicked off
last night at a sold out Bristol Croft. This will
be the first chance to hear some of the new material.
