CodeJAK
- are a four piece band from Barrow in the
North West of England and they are a band
in which Alternative Vision will be watching
closely throughout 2010 as they are simple
outstanding and one of the best new rock
bands that England has to offer.
The band
started off with singer, songwriter and
founding member Dan Turner’s love
for music, he originally started his musical
career as a drummer, but then went on
to learn guitar and pen over 20 songs,
he then realise that no vocalist he tried
out could do the songs justice so stepped
out from behind his drums to play guitar
and take on the lead vocals, he then asked
his brother Dave who was nicely following
in his footsteps to drum to see if the
songs worked well in a live environment,
straight away they realised the songs
worked and then recruited Dan Fisher on
bass and Jonny Regan on vocals and guitar
to complete the line up.
Since the band found
their prefect line up they have been busy
playing local shows, building up a steady
local following as well as won support
slots around the North West which has
seen them share the stage which a diverse
line up of bands such as The Futureheads,
Buzzcocks, The Holloways and even the
Sugababes, you may laugh but it is very
true.
The sound and feel
that CodeJAK have is a massive tub-thumping
sound which features big catchy screeching
vocals, dirty guitar riffs, piercing drum
beats and a general sense of progressive
rock which is going to leave you with
a massive smile on your face, the sound
of the band is perfectly highlighted on
their debut EP release ‘Hell Yeah’.
‘Hell Yeah’
is not due for release until the 25th
January, so if I was you I would note
that down in your diary and make sure
that you pick up a copy or download a
copy from ITunes on that day as the opening
track ‘Hell Yeah’ is already
lined up to be the rock anthem of 2010
in my opinion and that is a big statement
considering that 2010 is barely days old.
The second track ‘Pull Out Your
Knife’ is a good song which features
squealing guitar riffs and repetitive
lyrics of “Pull out you knife, pull
out your knife, pull out your knife and
come with me’ which builds up nicely.
The third and final track on the EP ‘Little
Boy’ shows off the softer side of
CodeJAK in such an eerie way.
At the moment CodeJAK
are currently booking a co-headline tour
with The Rocket Dolls the tour will run
throughout part of February and March
and will see both bands travel all over
the UK clocking up at least 20 shows,
it is a tour we are well looking forward
to and I urge each and every single one
of you to try and make it to at least
one show as CodeJAK could quite possibly
become your new favourite band.
As if the upcoming tour was not enough
to get you excited, the band are already
working on their debut album which is
slated for a summer 2010 release and I
am sure nearer the time it will cause
a massive buzz in the industry.
