We sent Tim King a few questions via e-mail to hear about the forthcoming Soil album 'Whole' and tour plans for 2013.

You are set to release your new studio album ‘Whole’ in August what is the meaning behind the album title?
It signifies that SOiL is "WHOLE" again with the return of Ryan and with Me, Adam, and Ryan all together again.

How did you find the whole writing and recording procedure this time around?
It was great. Went by very smooth and easy. We had a great time making the album.

What themes and stories are covered within the tracks on ‘Whole’?
Ryan writes all the lyrics. It is about his personal views and relationships.

‘Whole’ is the first album to feature Ryan McCombs on vocals since 2004’s ‘Redefine’ how does it feel having him back in the band and how did it add to the creativeness of ‘Whole’?
It is amazing to have him back. We are very focused and having a great time. It really helped make a killer record.

What would you say your favourite tracks from ‘Whole’ are and why?
The hate song - just catchy and fun from start to finnish

way gone - my favorite song on the album. It just speaks to me.

amalgamation - very fun song in the sense that it takes soil and drowning pool song titles and weaves them in the verses

Throughout August, September and October you are busy touring America, are you looking forward to getting out there and playing some new songs to your fans?
Yes for sure. We are deciding which ones to play as we speak!

Over the past couple of years you have toured the UK quite a lot, can we expect Soil to be heading back to the UK in the near future?
yes most definitely. In fact I was just speaking with our booking agent this morning about it. We are working on plans.

What would you say your biggest highs and lows as a band have been so far?
Highs have definitely been getting signed to J Records and having "halo" and the album "scars" explode. Getting a silver album in the UK from "scars". Getting Ryan back. Download 2006 on the main stage.

Lows are definitely when the previous singer and drummer quite on me and Adam right in the middle of our "Picture Perfect" album and tour. that was a huge blow. But everything happens for a reason.

Where do you hope to see Soil in a year’s time?
Touring and still promoting "whole".

One last random question that we ask every band, if you could be an animal out of a zebra or Giraffe which one would you be and why?
Prolly a giraffe. I like the tall aspect!
