Before the show we had a nice interview with Newton Faulkner where he explained that he has been playing over ten new tracks a night on the tour and that so far they have been going down well with the crowd and that how his last tour had a massive production yet this time around he has gone back to basics with a full on stripped back tour.

Photo Of Newton Faulkner © Copyright TriggerNewton Faulkner took to the stage dead on 9pm and when he said he has gone for the stripped down approach he was not kidding, the stage was set up with really basic lighting whilst Newton situated himself in the middle of the stage but slightly to the back and on the stage he had a rug, a stool a couple of guitars and a globe which opened up to contain his favourite drink of choice honey, lemon and ginger and also a digital camera for his latest creative work of taking panoramic shots of the crowd at every show for the Facebook generation to enjoy.

Photo Of Newton Faulkner © Copyright TriggerTonight Newton played for a solid 1hour and 45 minutes and he opened up with the legendary ‘Badman’ and continued the set playing various different hits as well as a mixture of new songs and half way through the show faulkner spoke to the crowd to thank them for coming along and also to tell them how amazing they are for already learning the words for his currently unreleased new songs.

As the set progressed Faulkner added some cover songs in with both ‘Teardrops’ and ‘Superstition’ going down extremely well with the crowd, but the main highlight of the Photo Of Newton Faulkner © Copyright Triggernight came when Faulkner played his latest song ‘Write It On your Skin’ and then split the audience up to sing different parts of the song, it took a bit of work and much laughter but after a couple of cock ups everything flowed perfectly and Faulkner and a strong crowd of nearly 2000 people pulled off a great variation of one of Faulkner’s forthcoming great songs.

Faulkner put on a great show tonight and spent a lot of time interacting with the crowd which often featured him making hilarious comments such as asking the one and only guy in the venue who had a red light shining on his face for the entire show if he was Satan and also joking with people who were shouting out how much they love him throughout the show.

Photo Of Newton Faulkner © Copyright TriggerThere were a few downsides to tonight’s show and the main downside was that the sound needed to of been turned up a few notches as if you were stood near the back then you really couldn’t take in what Faulkner was saying and during many songs the chatting at the back of the venue over powered that of Faulkner but then this was only an issue for the people at the back as everyone at the front were having a great time, but overall Faulkner is a great musician and I can see 2012 being another bright year for him.
