Biffy Clyro have been hard at work for some time
now working on their as yet untitled new album that
is due for release in October and have just released
details on their new single ‘That Golden Rule’
which is due for release on the 24th August and
I have to say it is the most epic song that I have
heard all year and it is also the best song that
Biffy Clyro have created so far in their time as
a band and is really going to catapult them into
things bigger and better than they could ever imagine.
‘That Golden Rule’ is an heavy guitar
driven rock song, everything that happens within
the 3minutes and 26seconds of the song is very
much unexpected, as the song is crafted in an
epic way like bands such as Tool and Kyuss develop
their songs where anything can happen and does
happen, the guitar riffs and general instrumental
work chops and changes throughout the song and
the last minute of the song is fantastic as it
goes on a mad experimental instrumental mission
that suddenly comes to an unexpected end in such
an explosive way. Even the vocals from Simon Neil
are as strong as ever with the man singing in
a such a clear way with his Scottish accent shining
through, especially during the gigantic chorus,
which is musically a moment you will not be forgetting
for a long time.
I have always been interested in Biffy Clyro,
but they have never been a band that have been
at the top of my list of bands to check out as
they have their good songs and at the same time
have some very weak songs in their back catalogue,
but I really think things are going to change
now as ‘That Golden Rule’ is so damn
good it has got me wanting to get my hands on
the as yet unfinished forthcoming Biffy Clyro
album now, but it looks like I have a long wait
ahead, but I am pretty convinced that ‘That
Golden Rule’, will keep me entertained until
then.
