Dinosaur Pile-UP - The Most Power EP In The Universe!!Dinosaur Pile-UP – The Most Power EP In The Universe!!

The three piece from Leeds that is Dinosaur Pile-Up are pretty damn new to the music scene, they have been together as a band for under a year now, they are already on the right road to success having played a sold-out headline show for club NME at the Koko in Camden and now they are ready to release their debut EP which is cockily titled ‘The Most Powerful EP In The Universe!’ which to me shows these guys are either full of confidence or they are always up for a laugh.

‘The Most Powerful EP in The Universe!!’ may not be the most powerful EP in the universe but it is defiantly a strong EP that you will not forget in a hurry and it will help bring bigger opportunities to Dinosaur Pile-UP, the EP has a grunge-punk sound about it, it’s a proper foot stomping EP that sounds like a mix of Weezer crossed with the Foo Fighters with Dinosaur Pile-Up’s unique edge added for good times.

The EP opens with ‘Summer Hit Single’, the song kicks off with a massive guitar riff that I am sure people can hear from up in space as it is that loud and good sounding, the whole song is riff-driven, whilst the vocals come across melodic yet rocky at the same time, towards the end of the song there is a massive guitar piece that any guitar geek is going to fall in love with.

‘Opposites Attract’ opens up sounding so much like Weezer from the vocals to the big crunching guitar riffs, it all has that Weezer sound and feel about it, and once again the guitar riffs are immense and some of the best that I have heard in a while.

‘Cat Attack!!’ is the weirdest sounding track on the EP, it starts off with real fast vocals and real toned down guitar work, and this is how the song runs right until the last 30 seconds when the instruments come in at fall force.

The EP finishes with ‘Beach Bug’ it is a bit of a sleazy grunge rock song, it has a bit of a guitar hero feel about it and whilst listening to the guitar riffs you can almost imagine yourself pressing the different colour combinations on the guitar hero guitar controller, well that is until the real hectic solo comes in and makes a big dent in your hearing with its loud hectic riffs.

Dinosaur Pile-Up have proved that they are a serious rock band who are going to go far with their debut EP ‘The Most Powerful EP In The Universe!’, this is defiantly the start of big things for this Leeds three piece, and with the NME behind up them, you will totally be seeing a lot more of them, maybe even on the next NME sponsored tour.
