I am all up for solo singer/songwriters but I think
that I have to draw the line at Daniel Merriweather,
don’t get me wrong the man has a wonderful
voice and knows how to create songs that flow really
well but the problem is that his music sounds to
polished off and to be perfectly honest sounds like
something you would hear from the X Factor finals.
The new single from Daniel Merriweather is called
‘Red’ and it’s taken from his
forthcoming album ‘Love and War’,
now I am sure if you are a 16 year old girl to
a middle aged women then ‘Red’ is
a song that you will get a lot of enjoyment out
of, but if you are like me and get your kicks
out of listening to hard hitting punk and metal
then ‘Red’ is going to do nothing
for you, I can see the appeal of the song, it
has Sean Lennon on guitar and is about the typical
solo artist topic of relationships and Daniel
Merriweather has a real strong sounding voice
but it’s really not a song I am going to
blast out again once this review is written.
Daniel Merriweather is without a doubt going
to follow in the footsteps of your James Blunt
and James Morrisons but there is a time and a
place for artists like him and Alternative Vision
surely isn’t the place.
