Bullet For My Valentine - The PoisonBullet For My Valentine – The Poison

Here we have the debut album from Bullet For My Valentine, who are currently all over the covers of alternative music magazines and have recently won a Kerrang award for Best British Newcomers. An award which they rightly deserve and this album proves just that.

The Poison starts with a chilled intro and then blasts straight into the second track “Her Voice Resides” with guitars blazing and heavy screams. The track's one of the heaviest on the album has a great solo and a good chorus.

The next track is “4 Words” which has a catchy chorus that gets you singing along. Next up is “Tears Don’t Fall” which slows the album down for a bit. It features yet again another great catchy chorus.

One of my favourite tracks on the album is their latest single “Suffocating Under Words Of Sorrow”. It starts with a great guitar riff and then the screaming vocals come in, the chorus is a little bit poppy which isn't a bad thing at all.

Track number 7 “All these Things I Hate“ is another slow song on the album and has an acoustic intro. “Room 409” starts of with an intro of screaming vocals and the chorus features group vocals and works really well.

My personal favourite track on the album is the title track “The Poison”. Its heavy all the way through and features a good solo and really good vocals, and sounds similar to Trivium in some ways which can only be a good thing.

Overall The Poison is a stunning album full of heaviness and also has its mellow moments. Bullet For My Valentine have got it right with this album and deserve all the praise they get. The future of British metal seems bright right now, with Bullet for My Valentine right at the front of the pack.

5/5
