Crash Romeo - Gave Me The ClapCrash Romeo - Gave Me The Clap

If you like poppy punk then you will probably have a weak spot for the Crash Romeo, the band are a four piece from New Jersey and have an infectious poppy punk sound that’s hard not to like, the bands sound is a mixture of Bowling For soup meets Simple Plan. The bands second album release Gave Me The Clap has the potential of making the Crash Romeo very huge.

Gave Me The Clap is one of the most infectious releases I have heard so far in 2008, the album is fast and melodic from start to finish and the band have such a happy sound. The album starts off with 'About To Break' a song that is full of melody and has such an huge catchy chorus which you will find yourself singing along and bopping your head to in no time. The lead single taken from the album is the extremely catchy 'Popular' the song features yet another really catchy chorus and is such a happy bounce a long song, the lyrics are quite basic but you find yourself singing along anyway.

The album title track 'Gave Me The Clap' is another top song that is full of melody, the guitars are fast, furious and catchy, frontman Travis Weber's vocals are as catchy and clear as ever, the chorus is quite basic yet extremely catchy with frontman Travis Weber shouting "clap, clap, clap, clap, clap your hands" which I’m sure would go down extremely well at the bands live show.

Each song on the album is followed up by another fast paced bouncy poppy punk song, each song on the album has the potential to be a future single release with the title track 'Gave Me The Clap' and 'Victim Liar' standing out from the pack and having hit written all over them.

Musically Crash Romeo are pretty talented they can clearly play their instruments and come up with an extremely catchy tune, but it’s lyrically where the band struggle, the lyrics are pretty basic and poor throughout but that is soon forgotten as the band manage to pull off good things do to their overall bouncy sound. If you like bands such New Found Glory, Bowling For Soup, Simple Plan or Allister then you will love Crash Romeo.

4/5
