Lo.DEP - LostdEPartmentLo.DEP - LostdEPartment

Lo.DEP formed back in 2003 and hail from Brussels, the band have toured pretty much all over Europe but are yet to unleash their music in the UK, well until now. The band are releasing their cleverly named EP 'LostdEPartment' within the next couple of months and a tour across the UK will follow shortly.

The band are a hardcore sound machine and if you like your music loud and heavy you are bound to like what Lo.DEP have to offer with their EP 'LostdEPartment'. The EP opens with 'Ironically One Bullet Was Left', which starts off with some hectic instrumental work that is bound to cause damage to your ears if listened to at maximum volume level. The lead vocals are fast screams and there are backing vocals of growls that sound like they have been lifted from Cradle Of Filth, the vocals are forever changing throughout the song and manage to get quite catchy at one point which I certainly wasn’t expecting from a band like this.

I haven’t got a clue what 'A.B.F.I.A' stands for but it’s the name of the second track on the EP and it’s quite a good song that once again features quite a lot going on. The song is extremely loud and once again features a wide variety of vocals from two lead vocalists and backing vocalist, the mixture of guitars and drums sounds are so fast and constant they sound like an army of soldiers marching.

Fast guitar riffs open up 'Grudge' the song progresses very slowly but soon reaches its peak where we are treated to a fast and heavy assault of drums, guitar and twin hectic vocals, the song also has a few sing a long moments which come when you’re not expecting it and fit in quite well.

The introduction to '(I Remember The Time When I Used To Have) Memories' sounds like the song is going to be a in your face hectic song from the start, but pretty much as soon as the guitar riff is started it’s almost over and the band take a surprise mellow turn which is almost spoken word with minimal backing music, but don’t worry the song takes a while to progress and once it does things get proper fast and hectic but soon mellow down again but it’s not long before the song is right in your face again, stunning stuff and definitely the most technical track on the EP and the track that stands out the most.

The EP finishes with 'Part One' which ones again show cases a mixture of sounds from slow to fast and quiet to loud. The vocals are also a huge mixture changing from screams to growls to more sing a long like vocals. The outro of the song sees the sound get quieter and quieter until you eventually hear silence.

Overall Lo.DEP are a technically extremely heavy progressive rock band and their ep 'LostdEPartment' is an outstanding release, just imagine the technicality of Mastodon mixed with the heaviness of Machine Head and the growls of Cradle Of Filth and you are some what closes to knowing what Lo.DEP sound like.

4/5
