Album Review
Die Hunns - You Rot MeDie Hunns - You Rot Me

The Die Hunns are a pure rock and roll band fronted by skate legend Duane Peters who has made a big name for himself in the punk rock scene with his own record label and fronting many bands such as the US Bombs etc.

'You Rot Me' is the bands new album and is musically a lot different from what Duane Peters has done in the past with his bands, the album is more of a pure rock and roll album than it is straight up punk. The band feature shared vocals by Duane Peters and former Nashville Pussy bassist, Corey Parks.

'Mad Society' opens the album up nicely with hard guitar work and raw vocals. 'Jorge' is the second track on the album and features constant drumming and is the first opportunity on the album for alternating male and female vocals that works really well. The album title track 'You Rot Me' features a good freaky sounding shout a long chorus of "You Rot Me".

'Don't Want To Hear It' is a song full of noise and the vocals are really melodic making the track one of the strongest tracks on the album. 'Rocknroll Boulevard' has a long beautiful sounding musical introduction and Duane Peters vocals shine on this song sounding more melodic, the sing a long chorus is truly stunning too.

There are some weird moments in the album such as the really depressing sounding 'Die For Me', which has a mixture of rock and roll and R n B. 'Ain't It A Shame' is another really strange sounding song that is saved by its catchy sing a long vibe.

The closest we get to classic sounding Duane Peters is the fast paced punk sound of '47th Street'. 'Night Like Tonight' closes the album and is a pretty average song.

The Die Hunns have done well with 'You Rot Me' the album is pure rock and roll and it’s good to see the band taking a slight step away from their punk rock roots. The alternating vocals also seem to work really well but I do prefer Corey Parks’s vocals to Duane Peters.

3.5/5
