City And Colour - Bring Me Your LoveCity And Colour - Bring Me Your Love

Pretty much everyone whose into alternative music of any shape or form will know who Alexisonfire are, but some would get confused if you mentioned Dallas Green, well that is until now. Dallas Green is the vocalist of Alexisonfire and also the man behind the project City And Colour that happens to be Dallas Green's solo side project. He released his debut solo album back in 2005 titled 'Sometimes' and the album went on and sold 7000 copies in the UK alone which doesn’t seem like major figures but is quite impressive from a low key release and a low key club tour that followed the release. Well Dallas Green is now back with his second solo studio album 'Bring Me York love' an album that really showcases Green's signature vocals with themes of love and life cropping up all over the album.

'Bring Me Your Love' is a heart warming album where every note is sung with passion and every chord is played with feeling, if you have never heard anything by City And Colour and are expecting a solo version of Alexisonfire with a mad screamo assault then you will be extremely dissapointed, instead we get true Dallas Green in the singer-songwriter form equipped with an acoustic guitar and beautiful vocals that really demonstrate the mans talents as a singer, songwriter and most of all a musician.

The album opens up with 'Forgive Me', the song is really moving and Dallas sounds like he is singing his heart out. 'Confessions' follows on from the open track in pretty much the same way but adds in some acoustic guitar solo's for a bit of variety. 'The Death Of Me' is a really upbeat sounding song, well as upbeat as acoustic music can get, with fast guitar strumming and uplifting vocals.

With acoustic music it’s quite hard to add variety to the sound, you can either strum fast or slow and sing like your depressed or like you are extremely happy, well Dallas Green has added a bit of variety to the sound by bringing in a harmonica for 'Body In A Box' and it really does something special for the song making it stand out from the rest. 'As Much As I Ever Could' finishes off the album and starts off sounding quite eerie vocally.

When the words singer songwriter are mentioned to most people they are quick to think of James Blunt, James Morrison and Jack Johnson, all artists that I personally think are a disgrace to the music business and gives the genre a bad name. So bring on City And Colour a true solo project and a true singer songwriter who is a true musician who can transform his sound and ideas for different projects, and now Alexisonfire are bigger than ever, his City And Colour side project should truly take off and bring the man the success he deserves as a solo artist as well.
